Apple here as well. EcuFlash/OpenPort 1.3 would not work for me on my PB 17 using VPC and Win2000 Pro. Apparently the USB buffering between VPC and the hardware was not up to par with dedicated hardware.

I use several old laptops for tuning. But I recently picked up an old Toshiba Tecra 8000 266 with 128Mb of RAM on eBay for $150. Rare to see a laptop with both USB and DB-9 Serial. So now I can use one laptop for all my tuning and logging packages...and it works very well.

Damn, sucks that VPC wont work. I am still going to try it anyway and see what's up. Found a copy at work.

Dells have USB and DB9 serial. Great to use. I need to cough up the cash and get me a crappy PC laptop and put a lot of RAM in there.

I have been given a Dell Latitude PPL that is running Windows NT.

It states onthe front that it was designed for Windows NT/98.

Will EcuFlash work on this laptop???

Just to post an update. I just recieved a beta version of the D2xx driver's for OS X. This eliminates the primary obstacle for building the existing ecuflash source base on Apple machines.

Colby, willing to share a snapshot of the source?

Windows 2000 is an absolute minimum to get ECUFlash running, since USB ports don't work in Windows NT..

Don't bother with Windows 98.. there are no working current .NET libraries for it and its officially "unsupported" and "End of Life"

You will have to install Windows2000 on the laptop, the odds are very good it'll run without problem on it.

Actually, this is mistaken. The new driver's that FTDI sent me are not D2XX drivers, they are updated VCP drivers.

So we can confirm someone running EcuFlash and EvoScan using Windows 2000?

Windows 2000 has both the .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 libraries, so presumably it will work?

On my laptop, Windows 2000 runs fine, but Windows XP (due to all the added useless cruft) runs quite a bit slower.

Hopefully it runs on Windows 2000... anyone confirm?

Yep I have two laptops running windows 2000, a machine running win2k3, and a few laptops and PC's running Windows XP.. All run the software fine.
