GM boost solenoid LOUD!!

I've been trying to figure out where I was getting a wierd and random ticking/knocking kind of sound coming from my engine bay. It wasn't showing up as knock on evoscan and after narrowing everything out I decided to unplug the solenoid and do a quick drive and the sound disappeared. I've had the solenoid for about 4+ months now and I don't remember hearing it in the beganing. Lately it seems to have gotten louder and more frequent.
Is this normal and does anybody else notice this on thiers? It has been alittle annoying to here this ticking and I think it has gotten worse in the last couple of weeks.
thanks,
ed

Yeah. They are all loud. What I did was place a piece of dynamat between the solenoid and where it mounts to the car. This really quited it down.

mine does that too, when it doesnt do it, my boost is solid, when it does, it is like the boost is hesitating. I think I am going to go back to a stock solenoid and the pills or try some other solenoid. Havent worried about it much though because I have been getting parts ready for my turbo kit.

would I need to use the resistor with either the grainger or MAC solenoid? also would I need to redo my WGDC maps with these?

the GM solenoid is good, just put a bushing between it and the vehicle

What is the bushing suppose to help other than dampening vibrations?

I'm pretty happy with the stock boost control solinoid. It was a little wavy until I modified the WDC maps but now I've got it dialed in pretty tight.

can we get off of the ways to quiet down the gm and answer if a resistor is needed with the other solenoids?

^^^ What specific solinoids are you asking about?

That's normal. It sounds like a machine gun with a silencer when I hit boost. I like it because I don't have to look at my boost gauge, I just listen for gunfire. And I do believe you'll need a 1/4 or 1/2 watt 10ohm resistor w/ most of them to avoid burning out part of the ecu.
