USB to Serial Adapters That Work
hm, it could be a bad unit, but I suspect with vista, like xp and 2k before it, usb stuff gone bad makes for a freaking mess to clean up. Try removing it in safe mode, its stupid I know, but back in the day we used to have to do that for all sorts of stupid little things to get them working.
This works great with Vista/7 x64: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812107108
no, normal mode: in vista I uninstalled the hardware via device mangler (manager) and it prompted to uninstall the drivers so I did. I reinstalled the new drivers for the new cable, plugged it in and it was redetected and setup. That's what I've done thus far but it still did exactly the same..no logworks/lm1 and 5 AFR in evoscan.

ok, uninstalled the driver in safe mode, rebooted, reinstalled and now lm1 programmer and logworks picked up the wb02! thanks for the tip. However, evoscan still logged it at 5 afr. I checked lm1 programmer and the fuel type was on "custom" beats me how it does that from time to time but it does. I reset it to gasoline and viola! it works again.
Congrats Chris... I got tired of the Innovate having a mind of its own on occasion, mostly when I needed to use it the most and dumped it for an AEM... no problems since...

I had a customer bring a radio shack cable yesterday...it was poo. We searched for drivers newer than the supplied 2007 ones for vista and ran across a ton of horrible reviews and gave up lol.
that best ones I have found are the FTDI based USB adapters. I sell them for $17 on my website www.limitless.co.nz/cables

Radioshack cable was designed by a genius who made the low voltage susceptible to noise USB side 6 feet long and a good robust noise immune serial end 3 inch long. So depends how much electrical EMI noise is in your car the widget works well, flaky or does not work at all. Definitely not the USB adapter to buy.
i have gone thru 3 cables , and 1 girlfriend already
cause it links to evoscan i can see afr s for 8 seconds then it freezes everytime
either i need a driver , a new cable , a new evo , or a new girlfriend
Same here i use the dynex for everything. No problems with vista or XP. It works with widebands, aem, etc.. The only thing mine hasnt worked with is DSMlink on the 1g dsm. On the 2Gs its not a problem
