I ripped everything off. I left the hard EVAP line in the engine bay. But removed the evap canister in the rear. At the time I did it, I left the solenoids plugged in. It was before you could patch your way out - and just remove them.

Now I'm pretty sure you can just remove them. (Not the FPS though I don't think)

This is not a big deal tuning wise. But what it really does is keep garbage out of your motor. (EGR)

Unbolt all the metal lines from the intake manifold. Remove ALL of it, just pop the lines off the corresponding nipples and take ALL the lines off.

Take it ALL off. Get a block off plate and remove the EGR valve as well.

Thanks for the info and the additional coloring on the pics. This may end up being my weekend project. I probably won't notice the driveability due to built head, Kelford cams and such!

Weekend project? PAH! Get all the ecu brain work done first. Then just go yank all the crap off. It doesn't take long at all.

The EVAP canister in the rear is a MESSY job. But even that doesn't take long either. <1 hour job if you are slow.

haha, meant do it on the weekend, not take all weekend. Need to get a blockoff plate first then I will start pulling. Want to make the ECU changes when V7 is released but may get impatient and use the beta.

Did you have to mess with timing afterward? Any idle issues?

Once you delete EGR I would think that deleting the IM bracket would be easier?

Oh yeah... I ripped all that crap off.

I was in there doing a clutch about 10-12k miles ago. And everything that ended up in my way - or seemed useless got 86'd in short order. Without all that crap all over the place, you can swap an IM in 30 minutes. Tops. Yank it all.

It also makes getting to things like the transfer case fill plug... and anything behind or around the IM a ton easier. The EVAP canister in the rear of the car is a sh*t sponge as well. There was a pound of dirt, rocks, tar... sand... and misc other crap adhering to it and otherwise stuck on top of it when I removed it. It's also the size of what you would expect on a flippin' FUSO. So getting it off the car and on a shelf was equally satisfying.

There are actually tons of small brackets, metal vacuum hose extensions, and other things in the engine bay that serve little to no useful purpose once you start adding aftermarket parts that can get pulled. I've been pulling all the bolts recently too - every time I take something off for any reason it goes back on with SS bolts. (Not structural or load bearing though... be careful.)

You'll see. Once you get started, it's addicting. Just don't turn your car into a rat trap... gutted evo's don't present well.
