CAN'T Download Flash

OK, went to a friends house to have my Launch Limiter Raised and a few other things downloaded and he could NOT download!! Now Evoscan worked fine in reading the ECU so it WAS connected OK..he just keep getting an Error Message
saying check cables etc. I did a search and came up empty....Ideas????

Anyone??? This MUST be a Common problem??:dunno:

MalibuJack Sep 30, 2006 09:32 AM

There may be a problem with the white connector, not the OBD-II.. Check to make sure its securely connected and all the pins are seated..

Evoscan will work with any OBD-II cable that uses a simple translation from the port so its not a great "Test" since the white connector is not required to be connected for it to work with a scan tool..

And no, its not a really common problem..

If I were a dealership, I might disconnect something on those pins to disable reflashing now that its pretty wellknown that we can do that, so check the wiring to the connector..

Uhhh, Thanks, I Appreciate it...... but EXACTLY how do I go about Checking that??? I NEED to get this thing Flashed for my Track Rental in 2 Weeks!!

OK, just got back from taking a look, the White Connector next to the Black OBDII
port is PERFECT, there is a SINGLE green/white wire going into it....PERHAPS
Marc (Alwaysinboost) did NOT have this connected??? Looked to me like he only made ONE Connection down there.....

MalibuJack Sep 30, 2006 10:29 AM

It probably wasn't connected.. or the cable didn't initialize..

11SECEVO Sep 30, 2006 11:52 AM

Thanks jack.....so thats Correct, only ONE Wire goes to that connector???

MalibuJack Sep 30, 2006 12:11 PM

There is only one wire to the white connector.. Its basically grounding or sending 12v (I don't remember which) to 2 or 3 pins on the MUT connector unde the dash, which triggers reflash mode.

Both connectors were attached. I was able to D/L and read the stock rom with out any problems. Only when I went to reflash the ECU after adjusting the stationary rev limiter was the stopped in the middle with an error message... I've never experienced that before on any other EVO I've used it on, very strange.

"When I tried to re-flash the ROM it stopped in the middle and said there was an error and that I need to contact colby. Unfortunatley I installed the new version of ECUFlash since then and don't have a record of what the error actually was.

I wonder if anyone else experienced this before????"

I need to see a full log of the failing reflash process, and then I can help. The connectors are working fine, if you can read from the ECU, BTW.

Colby Thanks...but do you have anything else that he can try?? I'd rather not make a 50 MILE One way trip down to his place just to get a Screenshot of the error, and STILL be UNABLE to flash this thing!!!
