help pls.. dad's been stealing my car for joy-rides

:crap:

If I want to prevent that from happening can I try the following "valet" mode
1. Rev Limit 3,000 RPM
2. Speed Limit 30 km/h

By activating rev/speed limit at such low settings can it possibly harm the engine?

Also, how many times can one flash the standard ECU? I'll be doing this every week every friday and monday...... i've done some searches but have not gotten any concrete numbers? Heard from some ecutek forums that it can only be reflashed 100-200 times?

Not sure on how many times you can flash but I think its more than that. I change my rev limiter anytime I need to leave my car at a place for something. When I got my alarm installed I changed my rev limiter to 3k so they couldn't joy riding{thumbup}

3k rpm's you guys are nice, I did 2k just for fun when I had it aligned, they never said anything about it so I'm guessing they tried :)

Dude, that sucks.:updown:

hawaiian_evo May 22, 2007 06:47 PM

wow so if you lower the rev limiter would that damage the engine if they keep trying to rev pass the 2 or 3k limit?

It wouldn't hurt the car with running a rev limit that low unless the person driving had it floored, bouncing off the 3k rpm limiter continuously for more that a few seconds. But my vote is to hide the keys {thumbup}

Couldn't you just write down the immobilizer and flash it to a diff. value? keys or not it wouldn't start.

Call the cops the next time your dad takes your car and report it stolen. When he gets pulled over and the cops arrest him you refuse to press charges and tell the cops you didnt know your dad took the car. That should teach him a lesson.
