Question about Evo 8 & 9 Rom's
There is something like a 2 step in this roms??? Iam new in this, i want to learn how i can do!!
Thanks! |
Yes there is, the early EVO8's have the RPM set so high that it's effectively disabled though.
|
Yeah. In the IX ROM, the table is listed as "Stationary Rev Limit" and should be set to 5000 RPM from the factory.
|
Boosting at the same time?? If yes, How much (psi) boost in "Stationary Rev Limit"?
|
That's what i want.
|
it's not a true 2-step but you might make a few psi.. nothing major. The biggest advantage for me is that I'm much more consistent with my launches.

Mine builds almost 10psi...do you have stock flywheel? |
It does build boost. Some have modified timing in the cells hit during this stationary rev limit to build more boost. I do not have a link to that thread, but a search should yield results.

Launching at 5000 to 6000 rpm? Isn't this gonna kill our tranny? or is our tranny that bulletproof?
|
It punishs the clutch first... Stock clutch are lousy for launches. Do about ten in a roll at 6,000 rpm and it'll probably give way.
It is common sense that the tranny, being part of the connection will get it fair share of the brunt, but on stock hp car, the damage is managable I guess. Till date I only launch my car about 5 times on stock clutch. It's still doing fine. On the otherhand, my cousin broke 3 sets of gear box within one year launching at 6,000 rpm in his 600 horses EVO. His multi plate clutch is however still working fine. This is what I call real damage. |
Knowing how to quickly slip the clutch vs dump is the key. Too slow with the left foot and you burn the clutch. Too fast and tranny parts break. Better to smell a little clutch than kill the tranny or diffs. Hard to put into words.
You could also put the two-step in the 5k vs 6k rpm. I like 5500. And for those musicians out there the pedal release would be quarter note = 100. {pcfreak} |
Tranny/drivetrain will break if you dont preload it at launch. Clutch will burn if you slip for too long. Do it right and you'll be fine.
