Changing Immo in the ECU. Programming keys with new Immo. Possible?
All,
I lost one of my keys from the two sets that come with the car when new. Instead of buying a new key and re-program it with the MUT tool, I would like to re-program two new keys with a different Immo (For security reasons). I know how to change the immo in the ECU but not sure if I can program two new keys (never been programmed) with a new immo on the same ECU. I was thinking that it may be possible to do the following: 1. Cut the new keys in a locksmith store. 2. Bring the car to the dealer. 3. Use ECUFlash to change the Immo. Flash the ECU with the new Immo. 4. Let the dealer program the new keys with their MUT tool with the new Immo in the ECU. Is this possible or there are other things to consider or impacted by doing this? {thumbup} |

I thought there was a procedure in the oem manual to program the keys yourself? No? |
my gf lost one of my keys also, so im interested in some answers. Can you reprogram the key you have now? Instead of buying 2 new keys.

To answer some of the questions:
1. The cost for the key is 28.00 plus shipping. 2. There is a procedure for programming another key with the same immo on the ECU and at least one key. Since I want to change the immo to a new code, the procedure will not apply on my situation. That is why I decided to ask this on the forum.... to see if there is a way of doing it. my gf lost one of my keys also, so im interested in some answers. Can you reprogram the key you have now? What is this procedure if you dont' mind me asking?
|
I believe is on the Owners Manual or the Service Manual. Used a little search button and got this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...rogramming+key
{thumbup} Now.... going back to the original topic. Does anyone know how to do the immo change in the keys and ECU?

If that is the case, then I will have three of them. :) Hopefully someone ran into this situation and will share with us! |
You need 2 working keys to program them yourself.

I am bringing this topic from the dead!
I am still in the need of programming the keys with a new immo. Is that possible? I do have two new (already cut) keys and was wondering if anybody got the tool and can program the keys with a new immo. |
ok if im reading this right, your trying to change your immobilizer?
if so you cant do that, your immobilizer is in your ignition and you need to make sure that your ecu matches it, (the immobilizer code) you could get a different immobilizer tho, and flash your ecu to match the new one.... -nick |
Basically, I am trying to change the code in the keys for whatever I want in the ECU. If that is possible!
All I want to do is to get my new keys reprogrammed to my car with a new code so my lost key will no longer work. Hopefully, this will clear some things from my original post! |
when u go to the dealer to program a new set they will clear the old ones i believe. Doesn't that get done what you want?
|
Don't think this is possible
|
me either
