First log of a friend's tuned evo IX please help..complete newbie
1 Attachment(s)
Thanks for looking I need help this is my first log.
Please have a look at the attached logs. The suspect ign advance table is: http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/2...anceht5.th.jpg The car is a 2006 EDM evo IX. Mods include: tuned rom, 90mm restrictor on one wastegate hose, removed restrictor on another hose (can not remember which side), greddy r spec intercooler with hoses, 76 mm evo400 02 housing+ downpipe+decat+cat back, hks RS intake, unknown greddy plugs boost is 2.0 bar (on greddy gauge) overboost and 1.7 all way to redline!!! i know it is too much but advance is really low for this reason. no wideband is used now but a wideband was on the car when the ECU was tuned by a pro. I used mitsulogger, i am not sure i logged the correct parameters of the ECU. knocksums are very low but the car does not perform as expected. i believe it has been mapped very conservatively due to the high boost. why is ECUload 159 and advance only 7-8? the map tells it that it should be more according to that load? am i missing something? Would you guys increase ign. advance? how much should i increase it, at which load cells/rpm? thanks guys |
that ECUload 159 is useless for high load area. It is capped off value. you need the 2 byte mod to read the actual un capped load values. Or try to log everything(injector pulse width and etc....) so that load value won't display "division by zero".
|
i will try to log everything. that makes sense. is ecuflash better in this case?
|
yes ecu flash
|
i am sorry i meant evoscan. for someone who does not use 2 byte can he find out the real ECU load with evoscan?
|
Evoscan has a load calculation as well. Its not as accurate as 2 byte but it will atleast get you in the right ballpark
|
That's a pretty wild timing table.

Dimititri...see if their is the 2 byte load patch for your rom on this forum. Cause if you can do that, it will help a lot. |
thanks guys i appreciate your help.i was missing AFRMAP. i will also check for 2 byte but i just dont feel confident enough to start writing to the ECU so soon. lol
mrfred i just started using ecuflash etc, but for me it looks a little conservative in high loads, particularly in the blocks of 7s and 4s. I have seen much higher numbers in other maps but with lower boost. as I said this car boosts up to 2.0 bar. why does it look wild? am i missing something? |

To not be so eloquent about it, that timing map is about the worst I have seen in awhile. |

Do this: Take your ignition map and put it into excel. Take a log, and highlight each cell that the ECU is using during that moment in time, you will see that the values go in a clockwise oval shape across the maps, not straight down. If you want, PM me your e-mail address and I can send you the Excel sheet I use to tune my car, in the sheet you will see an arrow representing how the ecu travels through the ignition map, and it looks like whoever tuned that car thinks that the ECU stays in the same load column, hence the "columns" of numbers. |

thank you very much as I said I am a complete newbie. thanks to everyone for the advice. that explains the crap performance
|
Tune won't be complete w/o wideband. 8* at redline is hurting the car about 60 whp.
Boost, Timing and AFR should be adjusted together while viewing knock so basically your stuck without knowing the AFR |
so you are saying an increased ign. advance degree like 12 at redline will get me 60 more hp at the wheels?{thumbup}
Here is what my research has shown so far. What else should I look out for besides: knocksum (0-3 is acceptable), A/F (11.5 with 12.0 at spool up) with wideband, injector duty cycles (<100%) anything else I should look out for? |
