MWDC / BDEL question.

What's the difference between...

Max Wastegate Duty Cycle 1
Max Wastegate Duty Cylce 2
Max WastEgate Duty Cycle 3

and

Boost Desired Engine Load 1
Boost Desired Engine Load 2
Boost Desired engine Load 3

When I change these for controlling boost with the factory solenoid, do I have to change all 3, or can I just change #1 of MWDC and # 1 of BDEL?

Table #1 is the main table. Table #2 is not used by the ECU. Table #3 is used when the car exceeds the "Boost Limiting Vehicle Speed".

This came out of your new delving? Or did i miss when you found this out before?

From my previous work. I'm sure about #1 and #3, but not entirely sure about #2. I see no calls to it in the code.

#1 and #3 BDEL are exactly the same in stock roms however.

Make #3 different, set the Boost Limiting Speed to something small, and see what happens. :-) I think there are a number of features in the ROM that are not fully utilized.

Mrfred, if #3 is used when the BLVS is exceeded couldn't this be used to reduce boost in taller gears if needed? Or what else happens when BLVS is exceeded?

mrfred Dec 13, 2007 02:19 PM

It could be used that way. Crossing over the BLVS also affects the WGDC update interval. It could affect other things that I have not researched yet.

How does it affect that interval? Increase/decrease or is that something else you have to poke at :)?

Its user-settable. I can't remember if I posted it, but there are two settings for the interval, one for normal, and one for above BLVS. I think my two boost control mods list instructions to show both settings.
