Ecuflash guru's...help needed
I'm trying to help keep a big burbo spooled between shifts and on a launch. I was looking over the thread "Show me your fully tuned maps," and saw a few people pulling some timing on throttle lift-off to get a rich condition similar to a anti-lag. I have been playing around with it and haven't had any luck. This is on a '03 VIII if that makes any difference. I also looking to get the same condition when launching on the factory stationary rev-limiter. Currently I am at 6k and I'm getting about 10-11psi. I don't really want to raise it but I would like to cut some timing or add some fuel to get an effect similar to a launch control set-up. I have done plenty of searching but haven't quite had the result people seem to describe so I made this thread to see if I could get some help. I know I won't get stand alone type results but I'm trying to get a little help from the stock ecu until I cant get a stand alone. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

You need to add NLTS to your ROM...well use a NLTS ROM I mean.

I do use that but I would like to help it out a little bit with more of a low timing/rich condition as I still a good amount of psi between shifts.

sounds like you have a pretty big sized turbo, when does it hit full boost

if you change the timing in the 140-180 load cells at 6k to 6-8* of timing that usually lets you get about 12-14psi on the 2step just play with the timing and fuel there until you get results you like.

thats not gonna help much since its not powerful enough to spin it. i have it on my stock turbo but nothin. even if you had a real anti lag setup it would hurt your turbo more than its gonna help anything. just use NLTS and you should have an issue between shifts

well, if you are using NLTS than you never technically "lift off" so what you are asking about would be useless. Using NLTS you'll only drop to the 140-170 load range and you don't want -10º of timing there as drivability will likely be affected.
Now, if you are 100% sure that you'll never be past 6000 RPM or so at part throttle (which is likely I guess) then you can pull the timing and see how it works. Just log a pull and see where the NLTS puts you load and RPM wise. Then, pull the timing in that area. I believe the VIIIs are limited to -6º or something and you'll need to pull at least -10º ... do a search in this forum and I think someone (maybe Bez) posted the code to modify the timing limit for the VIII. I have never tried this and honestly wouldn't on my own car. I have no idea what might happen ... good luck. |
