IX won't connect to PC?? experienced tuner can't figure this one out...
This thing has been so frustrating.....
OK, I have a Evo IX SE I recently bought in VERY good condition around 15,000mi. The guy before me never added anything to the car, so I don't think thats the problem (but wont rule it out) ANYWAYS everytime I go to connect to car to read the rom with ECUFLASH, it won't read and says something like this... "This vehicle interfacce does not support needed features. Unable to connect to vehicle interface' "interface closed" WHAT IS GOING ON??? I am currently working with a reputable tuner (no names) for online flashes and he doesnt know either. I have tried everything I can think of.... different laptops, different OS (vista, XP, macbook with XP), jumper cables on battery , different versions of ECUFLASH (1.29 and 1.34 are ok, 1.35 just freezes after i select 'evo 9') PLEASE HELP!!!!! and YES i do have both of the connectors plugged in :) P.S.- I have heard that trying to run ECUFLASH on a running car will make the car shut off immediately. I tried this, got the same error msg and it DID NOT shut off the car! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!! thanks |
i wonder if the car was tuned before and they locked the ecu. give me your email and i'll send u an unlocker tool. you'll need winzip to extract it. let me know.
|
If 1.35 freezes when you try to read/write, look here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=363025
Usually a locked ecu will connect, but it wont respond to the INIT code. It is usually 0001, but not if its locked. If looks like your cable isnt even sending an Init code. Ive never seen that problem before. |
is it a bad cable?
|
The IX is sensitive to battery voltage. Try hooking a jumper battery box up to it, or jumper cables from another running car. It should work. I had the same problem myself.
|
I'm having the same problem. I had ECUFlash 1.29a loaded on my laptop and it worked with the car great. I installed version 1.35 to use the new graph feature and I can't connect to my car anymore. Just installed v. 1.35 and I am now using v. 1.29a without a problem.
I can't wait for a permanent fix. |
try using the ecu unlocker on aktivematrix.com
|
Some tuners change the rom ID as well. I did a IX about 2 weeks ago. The unlocker didnt work. I pulled the rom starting from a evo9base map to get the immobilizer. The rom ID was changed to the VIII 11 rom

What cable are you using ?
Are you able to connect and log with Evoscan or Mitsulogger ? |
Talk to andy at speed element. I tuned my car myself and had this same issue. The newer version of Ecu flash is buggy. I used an older one and it worked fine. Also depending on if you are using XP or VISTA there is issues with the cord. I got the exact same error code. Speed element is awesome, thanks again for the help guys.

Im going to try that as soon as I get back to my house. Ill keep you posted. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP! |
ok, i just tried mitsuloggger and it seemed like it connected to me. I have never used it before so i dont know what to look for (Im tuning my car with another guy online...hes doing all the tuning) but THE RPMS LOOKED FINE.
???? Could it still be the cable?? i hope so = easy fix :) ALSO---- Is there something I could look at on mitsulogger to tell if my car is knocking in the meantime??? THANKS |
