switch ROM ID's...
I have ROM ID 96420007. Seems like a red-headed step child of the ROM ID's out there. I have noticed some posts that say to convert from this...
I am n00bish when it comes to this stuff, I just want to add EGR cCEL Fix code as all my emssions are removed and want to add Tephras knock light, perhaps. I also want to avoid the p0300 code issue some people say can be done by moving to a different ROM ID.. Thanks! |
check out this post to find the standard rom for your car
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=standard You can simply switch ROMS. I think you said mellon is tunning your car, ask him to use the standard rom listed in that thread for your car year. Its the same thing as using any rom, just make sure to put the info from your current rom in for immobilizer, AFR, timing, etc... |

Now, my Evo is an 04 and rom is 96420007 Per that thread, you initially suggest using 94170008 but eventually the recommendation seems to be - Actually the 94170014 is the fix for the p0300. This is what I was told by a mechanic at mitsu that owns an evo the last comment made is that 94170015 is actually the latest version. So, I am guessing 94170015 is the latest version and I downloaded it from that cool wiki site. I will ask Mellon if he can move my stuff over. We haven't done a whole lot of tuning yet - he sent my initial flash for 750's and I pulled a log for him at idle to see what it was doing. Also, with the help of mrfred - I was able to turn off EGR and both EVAP CEL's by adding 0x0DDF to the periphery table. YAY!!!!! Else, a tutorial will be nice on how to switch roms over, I see you suggested it in that thread as well. :) |
I receintly did a ROM switch from the 08 to the 15. The hardest part was re-creating my tuned maps into the 15 map. Most of it was copy and paste. The part that took the longest was changing the load back up to 300 from the 26 stock form.
Just take your time and go through every system to ensure you get them all. Also know that you will gain some things with the 15 map. FWIW this completely cured my P0300....thank goodness. My 2 cents. Paul |

My 2 cents. Paul do, I compare the 008 and 015 xml file and copy and paste, is that all it takes? Is there anything else, I need to mess with file wise? Thanks, Paul! |

What will you be gaining by going with the 15map beside the P0300 fix
-Fuel Boost Enhancement (Anti-lag) Table Boost Enhancement Enrich/Enlean (Anti-lag) Map -Timing Boost Enhancement Adv/Ret Map 1 (Anti-lag) Boost Enhancement Adv/Ret Map 2 (Anti-lag) Most people zero these out to get more accurate logging. I havn't seen an issue with them. As a matter of fact I have seen an increase in gas mileage slightly. |

Is there anything else, I need to mess with file wise? One key thing you have to do is copy over your Immobilizer code. Because this is a HEX input you have to put x0 before your specific code....example my code (changed for security purposes) is D11F so I had to click the data field then hit the = key on the keyboard. This will pop up a new box. Here I typed in x0D11F and then enter. Voila there is my new code. Keep in mind that the 15 map is just another stock map. You might consider just changing the immobilizer code and that's it. Run the 15 map and start your tuning fresh. If you do decide to start tuning from scratch but you have bigger injectors you will have to scale them before you do anything. I hope this helps. Paul |

That is pretty much all it takes. You can't copy and paste like normal though. You have to open the given date field then click edit then select all then click copy. Then you have to open the 15 rom same data field and repeat the click edit but then click paste. You will see it all maps over pretty easily.

Paul What I do is open both roms, then go one map at a time.... ctrl+a to select all, ctrl+c to copy, then click on the other map then hit ctrl+v to paste. takes about 2 seconds per map. The entire rom is done in 5 min. |

No need to enter the imm code as 0x. Simply copy and paste it from the old map.

The entire rom is done in 5 min. 1) open 07 and 15 rom in ecuflash 2) copy over every one under the expandable + signs 3) Upload new map Does step 2 look right....Would'nt this cause 08 stuff to be put in 015 making it pointless? Please correct me? I should have mellon do this for me. Dudi - I do have the new 015 tephramod v5.10 map that I will be copying into. It seems tested and approved. Thanks for your guidance with this! |
If you are planning on using v5.10 all you will really need to copy over will be your tuned maps...fuel, timing, latency etc. The rest will operate as normally.
Your car will run with the baseline 15 map with little issues. As for your asking about if you will just have another 08 map if you copy it all over that is not the case. As I recall there are things running in the background that the 15 map has over the 08. Thus the solving of the p0300 for most of us. You should sit down and play with the programs. Just make sure you save your current read some place safe so that you can always go back to it. By playing with the software you will get used to how it works. I know it sounds a bit elementry but we all have to start somewhere. This is what I did to learn the software. Once I felt comfortable with my abilities then I wrote a new map to my car. |
thanks, I am going to do exactly what you said, Mellon said I can send him the ROM I want to use and he will copy over the stuff, but I will do immobilzer and such first on the tephra first....

I hope it doesn't cost you too much. I am telling you it is rather easy to do yourself....save the $$$ and try it. You might just be surprised. |
