rich afr's during spool

ok, so my lean spool is disabled....no matter what number i have listed in my fuel map at 2500 - 3500 loads 100 - 200 or whatever...

afr's drop to 10's...

i searched all day yesterday...found few threads about accell enrichment....upped values and that did nothing....

wondering if anyone else found a fix for this.

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 05:16 AM

on a site note...oddly enough I didn't have this issue with lean spool enabled...just matter of richer afr's threw gears.

Sounds like an exhaust leak.

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 05:37 AM

doesn't happen with lean spool enabled...i will test again

bump up the jam..any insight?

If richer than before with lean spool working maybe you are not leaning the map enough. LS put's the effected area on a afrmap schedule of high to low 13's (depending on factors I know little of). Also, the lean spool is not directly load based so perhaps you may need to lean the cells to higher load values (220% or more) despite what the respective load value is logging for too rich. I notice discrepancies with 2byte air and actual hz, esp on the front and backside of logs loosing reliability in areas of rapid load change (could be just my system and logger though, but nevertheless it's wrong).

What I see with accel enrichment is not an overall increase or decrease in fuel for an area, but change in response time. You might be able to ramp the values with AE in such a way to get what you want but that would seem a little tedious. BTW, if anyone has a definition of accel enrichment and it's direct relationship I would like to know (without loosing me).

So basically your options might be leaning more in areas outside of your read load until you see improvement, OR enable LS again.

Wouldn't a leak show lean at idle and become actual under backpressure, or does all the O2 somehow escape from the mix out the leak? A leaking DV can make it richer than before by recycling the air the ecu thinks it's using for burn but LS won't make it leak all of a sudden. Just curious, trying to learn you know

no no...ls is disabled now....afr's at spool went richer when i disabled it....but i was able to lean out 4th as well as 3rd with it disabled which is why i'm trying to keep it...but my map shows 13's for afr's at spool, and sitll i get reading of 10s and 11's...its been up to 14's still nothing changes for spool up.

SWOLN Oct 15, 2008 10:23 AM

What STOP and START values are you using ?

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 10:57 AM

tried both 2500 and 1500

SWOLN Oct 15, 2008 12:49 PM

injectors and scaling info too please.

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 03:38 PM

stock injectors..stock scaling(to my knowledge)

Thats pretty odd i never had this problem. i set both start and stop values to 2500 rpms when i disabled lean spool.

When i first did it my AFR went 1 point richer across the board so it took me awhile to get it leaned back out to something more normal.

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 03:54 PM

would it be safe to do like 2500 - 3500 lean spool...just to lean that one spot out..

sharkm87 Oct 15, 2008 03:56 PM

i also notice now when i let off gas while drivin..afr's go richer...like 12/13......they used to go 18.4 when i let off

sharkm87 Oct 16, 2008 09:16 PM

bump for help......put back map with ls enabled.....still same issue......i know with the evo 8, and the new xml code, it added quite a few extra ls options....should one of these be altered?? i can not figure out the rich spool afr's
