Quick Map Question...
Can you run the Evo 8 FQ 300 map from JDM or EUR on an 2004 EVO 8 GSR USDM?
Thank you for all replies in advance. |
yes u can but u will need to alter a few things.
JDMs dont have a rear O2 like you guys in the USDM, we also have antilag. can be done though. but if you want the fuel and timing maps why not just copy and paste em? |
getting a tune from a great tuner is your best bet! It will yield more power and it would be safer than using a rom from another car.

Don't just "run" a map from some random car - that's stupid.
Tune your own map. Start with a stock map and go from there. Once it's tuned you can look at adding all the cool patches and updates when you are savvy with the basic ideas. This thread makes it easy yo. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-tune-evo.html |
Thank you all for the recent replies. I do agree, that running maps from just any car are a little sketchy.
As to the EVO 8 from different countries, I didnt realize there would be that many difference. You would think since they are all produced on an assembly line, that there wouldn't be that much different, except for the tuning to deal with the DOT approval and emissions. So theoretically, I thought it would just be a quick swap of the maps like Rolly states. Then custom tune from there, for specific mods... Im still working on getting all the hardware necessary to tune. But just asking questions that seem explained but unclear in other posts. Rolly brings up an interesting note, "if you want the fuel and timing maps why not just copy and paste em" .... Curiosity says, what will that do for me? |
abolutely nothing lol.
from what i heard the JDMs are slightly more aggressive, u may feel like you gained but might actually be getting a lot more knock. |
Doesn't fuel and timing make the power...?
