ecuflash cant read Ecu evo 8 2003
i need help with the peeps who used ecuflash
i run windows xp , the drivers for the wire 1.3u are installed, the tacktrix i bought new from limitless.nz cable 1.3u Ecuflash version 1.45 ( also tried version 1.29) , engine is evo 8 and ecu is evo 8 part # mn132874 the frame is a galant 8g , ive checked the evo ecu pinout and the diganostics wires are correctly plugged as soon as i click read ecu its starts by : sending init. sequence 1 (0001) then a window pops up saying error , plz check log heres what the log files says [00:46:18.343] Version 1.29.906 [00:46:18.343] 8 memory models read. [00:46:19.578] 140 ROM metadata models read. [00:46:19.578] checksum module "subarudbw" loaded. [00:46:19.578] flashing tool "wrx02" loaded. [00:46:19.578] flashing tool "wrx04" loaded. [00:46:19.578] flashing tool "mitsubootloader" loaded. [00:46:33.531] sending init sequence 1 (0001) the log from version 1.45 says the same thing ive check my battery voltage, it was dead ( optima yellowtop ) its been charging for 24 hours, tried it again just now still didnt work ive re-checked the ecu wires and they all seem ok , most of them are welded , some are twisted ( i checked them and they're still ok ) could it be just that ? it influences the voltage/resistance if the wire is twisted ? If the ecu is locked i think the code ecuflash gives will be different or is the ecu burnt ? or is it a faulty 1.3u wire ? i bought the evo front in cali so the ecu should be cali spec right? if its fed spec it cant be read or is it it cant be flashed ? plz help guys |
Either too low of power, try ecuunlocker, or your wiring is wrong. One of these things is 99.99999% your likely answer.
That is the same message that is reported when an ECU is locked. |
i bought a 1.3u tactrix & evoscan from limitless.nz at the end of august pin diagram is
/ P-P---PP\ / P--PP-P- \ - - - | |- - P - - - - - - so i shoulndt have to move any pins right? the thing is i want to read the rom from my ecu i have a evo 8 engine , evo 8 ecu , and 4g64 wiring harness ( my car is a galant 03 canadian ) , evo stuff is USDM i tried version 1.45 , 1.29a and version 1.28 ( along with the ecu unlocker version 1.1) and none of them worked and they all gave me the same error heres the log [00:08:08.953] Version 1.28.716 [00:08:08.953] 8 memory models read. I had the exact same problem on my mates Evo8, EcuUnlocker solved the problem for me.
|
i tried ecuunlocked version 1.1 with ecuflash 1.28
does the unlocker need to be in some folder in the install directory for ecuflash the info was : to start the app. then start ecuflash and to let ecuunlocker run in the background while trying o read from the ecu |
the obd2 connector in our G has 8 wires . the 1.3u wire has 8 also but the pattern is different so only 6 wire connect in each other
red white which is probably pin 85 red black black ( ground ) black ( ground ) grey red green orange and theres the lightgreen wire (pin 113 ) thats alone in the white flash plug do i only need those 7 wires to read the ecu |
ok i think this is right
im still using the galant 4g64 automatic engine harness , ( upper portion ) with evo ecu harness and evo ecu ok let me resume il try to bench test the ecu EVo pins /wire color 62 DLC orange 79 DLC green white 13 GRND 26 GRND 12 12v red yellow 25 12v red yellow 80 backup 12v red black 82 ign black red 36 cel white blue galant Pins/wire 22 cel brow black 98 IGN black orange 66 backup 12v red white 47 12v red 41 12v red 42 grnd 48 grnd 85 dlc red white 113 light greewn The K line (OBD Pin 7) goes to ECU Pin 62 OBD Pin 4 & 5 are to ground OBD Pin 16 is 12v+ do i need to connect the flash connector if i just want to read the ecu ? |
this is the setup you need for the evo obd2 port you will also need to plug in the flash connector to read the ecu data and gain access to the immobiliser code.
The K line (OBD Pin 7) goes to ECU Pin 62 OBD Pin 4 & 5 are to ground OBD Pin 16 is 12v+ pin79 to flash connector thats all i have hooked up from when i converted my evo 2 for the 8 ecu |
i tried to read the ecu of a lancer ralliart 2009 , heres the ecuflash log file

Info: Initializing At 5 baud... Info: Initialization Complete... Info: Waiting for INIT Response... Info: ECU ID: 00FF Error: No Response from Vehicle ECU Info: Datalogger Ended. since its the 1.3u that i have i didnt expect to be able to properly connect to the ralliart ecu . if u check the log from my ecu and the log from his theres a few extra codes on his mine stops at sequence 1 (0001) and his stops at sequence 1 (FFFF) so that means that the tactrix 1.3u is good right , its not a defect so its probably my obd2 port which is bugging |
bump for help bro

i was finally able to read the ecu .
the trouble was at the obd2 port, the 1.3u tactrix cable used for the evo 8 has the obd2 end wired for a lancer obd2 port. the galant 99-03 has a different wire arrangement so at pin 1 , the red and black wire, that needs to have 12v , and the oem galant doesnt have any voltage on that one. so i undid the harness and trace it ( i was curious as to where it originated ) . anyway it comes out of one of the harness connects into the fusebox , it then splits in 2 , one goes to the instrument cluster, the other to the obd2 port. , u can unpin it from the port and add a constant 12v wire from another source . also on bottom row, last pin ( pin 16 ) its a grey red wire . if you trace it , it goes into a capped harness behind the steering wheel under the dash ( there 2 harness and all the rows are capped, probably for options or what not ) THAT GREY WIRE NEEDS TO RUN TO PIN 54 OF THE EVO ECU . my evo 8 ecu did not have a wire at that pin so i had to add one . after that i bench tested my ecu , and was able to read and save my ecu :) thx for your help guys, |
