Updated From ECUFlash 1.29 to 1.42, Can't Connect

I just decided to finally update and I can't get it to work. It continually fails to connect. Is there something I am failing to do?

Thanks for any help.

it depends on ur cable.

you need openport 2.0 cable for ecuflash 1.42 and up.

openport 1.3M cable with ecuflash 1.3X

and openport cable 1.3U for ecuflash 1.41.

i have versions 1.34 and 1.41 if u like.

Crap didn't know I needed to update my cable too.

rolly1818 Oct 20, 2009 07:15 PM

u dont NEED to. do you know which cable u got?

tephra Oct 20, 2009 07:51 PM

contact your cable supplier, they will provide an update if you have an old cable (ie one with no key programmed into it)

I have an older Tactrix, the one with just one wire going to the white plastic portion instead of three wires. The one that blinks all three ACD lights until you are above 10 mph.

i think u got 1.3M so u can only use ecuflash 1.3X. Contact Tactrix for an updated cable.

Having problems with mine...can't connect with vehicle interface error.......did u drive the car before trying to flash?

It's a driver issue with the 1.42. If you uninstall ecuflash, then install an older version (including drivers), then install the newest version, but cancel driver install. Or, you could just update the cable like Tephra said.

^^^ Hmm..believe I tried that, but will try again...however does anyone know where I can d/l 1.41?

nightwalker Oct 21, 2009 10:05 PM

I tried the "install old Ecuflash + old drivers" then "install new Ecuflash" and mine still did not work. So I'm stuck with the old Ecuflash until I buy a new cable.

im having a similar problem. I have the 1.3u cable, can anyone send me ecuflash v1.41?
thanks in advance

NOMIEZVR4 Oct 22, 2009 07:34 PM

ok I found the fix.

THANKS TO "fostytou" on the forums. I will just reiterate what he wrote:

Lets say you have 1.3u cable and you are trying to use ecuflash 1.42v

1. Go to your main screen, "right click" on my computer go to the tab that says "hardware" . click on "device manager"
2. In device manager go to the top tap "view" under there you will see "show hidden devices"
Now remove all instances of openport and 1.3 (there should be a few)

3.-RESTART

4. Now go into" C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\drivers " Now download the ecuflash 1.42v file into this folder and run it from this folder.

5. -optionally restart (why not?)

6. Plug in the cable , "found new hardware " will show. click on either one of the " Yes..." and follow through..when it is done updated WAAAALLLAAAA should work!!

Hope that helped
