Idle timing and S2's

Ok so Im like %85 sure that there is a thread somewhere in this section that will have some useful information on what im about to ask. The problem is after searching for a quite a while I cant find it:crap:....So im going to ask and if anyone know where some useful info is just post a link or what you entered in the search field and Ill do the rest of the work myself{thumbup}

So heres the question: --> I just installed GSC S2's and matching beehive springs in my 03 VIII. Everything went well and the car actually seems to idle pretty well (with an aggressive lope) If i let the care idle for a little bit after driving it, the idle goes up to about 1200 and sometimes throws a p0507 i think it is. Its basically throwing the code saying that the idle is above the set threshold. Now I haven't had the car tuned yet (I just put them in a day and a half ago). I bumped up the idle a hair to about 1000-1100 rpm with the screw on the throttle body. I HAVEN"T touched the ECU flash idle map yet. I think its set at 845 from mellon. I can take a look at it when i get home.

So should i be raising the idle via EcuFlash or on the TB? or both? Im assuming the 200rpm threshold that the ecu uses to throw this code is based off of the values in the idle table on the ecu? So raising the values would help me not trigger this DTC?

Thanks for any help!

Let me know if anyone needs more info!

Put the car in SAS calibration mode (locks the ISCV and timing) via evoscan, then adjust via the SAS/BISS screw on the throttle body to match the correct RPM.

I don't think cams should have caused your idle to change like that automatically, so make sure everything is properly connected and back together.

Well the cams didnt raise the idle. I did because at 800 rpm the lope was very slow and would sometimes stall out when the a/c compressor kicked on. I raised it with the screw your talking about on the TB. Soto put the car in SAS cal mode? Never heard of that. Is there a method on this?

Thanks for the info Fostytou

you should also check your latencies and afrs during idle too.

What should they be around? Especially the AFR? I haven't got a chance to run the logger yet. I will prob take a look at it tonight after work. I want to make things are safe for the car until I get it tuned.

14.7-15.2 idle is fine.

ziad Nov 26, 2009 02:35 AM

if u have a cat what is the leanest AFR that you should run while in idle or cruise to ensure the cat does not get too hot or damaged.

14.7-15.0 for a cat equipped car.

quick question. Do any of you guys know if the screw in the idle adjustment hole is flat head or a Philips?

Also which way will decrease idle and which way will increase?

Phillips, tightening the screw will decrease your idle speed.

if your code was, idle higher than expected, then raise the expected idle. that will take care of the code.

by expected idle I mean adjust up your ecuflash idle speeds.

I recently installed gsc2 cams on an viii and cant get the afr's up from 10.9-11.Changed idle speed in evoscan and adjusted biss. Also pumped timing up to 11 degrees from 500-1000.Also changed afr's to 17.6 to help at idle with no luck.Any advise.

2000+ cc injectors?

outtanowhere Mar 2, 2012 07:16 PM

No stock injectors. I have fic 2150's to put in but motor is fresh and I want to get idle correct so I can drive it and dattalog without fouling plugs.
