can jdm evo 7's log boost?

considering the jdm evo 7's have a factory 3 bar map sensor can they log boost without having to patch the rom? if so is anyone aware of the evoscan code or mods required to do this?

Only some JDM 7's have the sensor on the intake manifold, however it is an MDP sensor (1bar) not the 3bar sensor as fitted on the JDM IX models.

You can swap the sensor for a 3bar JDM map sensor (direct swap) and then yes you can log boost with it

any xml modding required? what about the MAT?

my car has a 3 bar map sensor as standard confirmed by the part number in caps
so what is required to actually log it? cheers

according to caps (for japan models) all CT9A chassis prefix eg evo 7 8 and 9 come with the manifold pressure diiferantial sensor part number jcmd305600 AND a absolute pressure sensor part number jc1865A052

CAPS is old now, and not always correct.

If you have a look on ASA (the replacement for CAPS) you will see that the MDP (part no: JCMD305600) is a 1bar MDP sensor and is on page 1 (if you just select CT9A and don't put in a full vin number, and that on page 3, is the 3bar MAP sensor as fitted to the IX model.

MAT is not required to log boost.

No need to mod any XML, just tick the MAP sensor option to log MUT 38 in evoscan, unless you want to edit the formula to read something other than psi

i have checked it on asa aswell and confirmed with my chassis number i do have the same 3 bar sensor as fitted to the evo 9 and the 1 bar diff sensor

How can you have both an MDP and a 3bar fitted ??

The only way you can be certain is to go and read the part number from the sensor on your car.

I know that it will be JCMD305600 unless someone has already swapped it out, as NO evo 7 be it, JDM, or EDM were fitted with a 3bar map sensor.

weird!! you are right when i punch my full chassis number into both caps and asa and click the sensor it gives me part number jc1865A052 instead of the usual "no data" yet i just checked the sensor on the car and it is jcmd305600???? provided i do then buy the correct sensor what mods are required to log it

EvoScan :) just search for the "how to log boost" thread that details the xml changes. If you have a new enough version of EvoScan I think its already included.

infini_IV Dec 19, 2009 04:05 PM

that thread only covers mods to the us evo 8 and 9 roms not a jdm 7

Just log JDMMAP in evoscan and go full boost, then post your log here.
