Windows 7, can't replace EvoScan .xml
 

Just picked up a new Laptop for Logging and Flashing.

New laptop is running Windows 7, first time I've used it.


I have a custom EvoScan .xml, I have already made with all my custom requests.

So I try to replace "Mitsubishi MUTII.xml" in the "DataSettings" folder. It looks like it works, but when I run EvoScan the old file is back. I tried deleting and it comes back.


I have Admin Rights. Tried changing Ownership to me.


Does anyone know how to delete or overwrite this file in Windows 7?



Thought I'd ask here because someone has probably had the same problem.

Anyone else having this problem?

I've tried:
Run as Admin.
Changing Permissions.
Changing Ownership.
Turn Off System Protection.
Run in Safe Mode, file is changed in Safe Mode, but back in normal mode the file changes back to the original.

So far I like Win7, but this is starting to aggravate me.

If anyone has any hints or clues, they would be very helpful. Google search just brings up things I've already tried.

see if disabling the UAC helps any

UAC completely off, still replaces with the original file.

Tried turning AntiVirus off also.


My edited file is 57 kb, and the original is 71 kb.
The file appears to be my edited one in explorer, but when I open it, its the original.


Edit:
If I open the .xml with Notepad or other TextEditor, its my edited file.
But if I open the file with IE or EvoScan its the original.

I'm confused.

If anyone is having same issue, the solution:

Windows7 stores a copy of EvoScan in the VirtualStore folder. You must replace the .xml there.

C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\EvoScan\


Windows7 file search function sucks, I searched for extra copys of the .xml multiple times and came up with nothing.

I might be "downgrading" to good old XP, I don't see how MicroSoft can mess up such simply things.

Easier solution is to uninstall Ecuflash delete remnants and then simply install outside of
C:\program files\openECU\etc.....

Just install in c:\openecu\ecuflash and it will be just like good ole XP {thumbup}

PS check options to insure correct path for Rometadata folder as well
