boost control maps

I'd like to do a little boost tuning using my GM BCS. I've read some of the articles around the forum. but would like to see some real world settings from people running around 25-28 psi on E85 so that I can get an idea of where to start with my settings and to understand what the settings are when changed.
I'm on an EvoIX stock turbo, basic bolt ons, E85.

Thanks guys!

Start around 50-60% WGDC and go from there... Do short pulls from 2500-3500 to see what the turbo spools to and adjust as necessary.

Should I do 50%-60% across the board? or higher in the higher RPM's?

You'll probably end up with 100% WGDC @ 6k+ giving you approximately 20-21psi - that's all the stock EvoIX can at that RPM, airflow g/s calculated by ECU with MrFred's calculations being turned on will be 290-315g/s depending on the ambient temperature. :)

Anyway, starting with 60% WGDC across the board for your boost goals is normal and reasonable. Also you'll see that WGDC differs significantly by gears to get identical boost curve (once it spools up).

Bringing this back, can anyone post up some shots of their tables with a stock ix turbo? Just curious to see what people are getting before I start plugging numbers in.

You really should start at 40-50% all the way across the board and do short pulls like suggested, not everyone will be running the same numbers as you and could possibly damage the car if trusting someone elses numbers.

stock intake, stock turbo, stock o2 outlet, dc sport downpipe, stock cat-back.

im also interested in BDEL tables.
i want to set mine v7.

this is BDEL #1 and #3 in 99860002 (top) and 90550001 v5.10

Just copy that to the v7 BDEL for all gears and go from there. That's only for target boost either way, WGDC is what the ECU will initially use for boost.

I think it is risky to run that kind of boost on a stock turbo.
Having a WGDC @ 100% >5500RPM means that you are running out of the compressor map (in english: you are killing your turbo)
Cheers.

100% WGDC @5.5k+ RPM will result in approximately only 23->19psi in 5.5-8k RPM area. Do you think that is not reasonable for stock EvoIX turbo? :)

thanks Raptord {thumbup}
can i put this values in 4/5th gear?
are not this gears usually different?

Raptord Feb 25, 2012 05:25 AM

Youll only know when you actully log 4 th and 5 th gear , but often you use slightly lower wgdc in higher gears

i just installed my gm 3port. and i will say i am highly confused at the moment. lol i am running V7 and started tinkering with the "main map wastegate duty" and "boost desired engine load". at the current moment i just left the map how it is and did a pull. it went to 26ish and i left off. so i lowered the entire "BDEL" map to 50.0. did another pull, with same results... This is where i am confused. do i edit the "main map wastegate duty" and not the "BDEL"?
