Pop's & Bang's Map...Is it BAD?

Hi,
ive mapped my current map for pops & bangs by retarding the timing (-) on lower load cell.
The sound is truly awesome but will the exhaust temp sky rocket and is it bad for the engine?

Thanks

I can not tell how bad is it in real world, but I would be definitely concerned about exhaust valves, the more you retard timing.

Could you share these parts of your timing and fuel maps?

It could potentially be hard on the exhaust valves and turbo during repeated, prlonged use.

There is a happy medium, are you still on a stock bottom end? How many degrees are you going? I've had luck on launch maps retarding timing with it still being a positive number. Ie not going crazy -15 or -20 deg

the als pops and bangs on stock ecu will not harm your turbo or exhaust valves the ecu goes to -10 only its only activated on overrun ive used it for years on numerous evo 1s to 9s will no ill affects

You can retard past -10 with an ECU patch.

With Patch ?? I tried with few roms and patch and doesn´t work, only retard -10º
ROM 96530006

It depends what ECU being used:
E9 -20
E7/8 -10
E5/6 -27

Hey Todd, a tricky question, is it possible to set SAS tables to improve in between shifts response rather than pops'n'bangs only?

drilling the banjos and the holes in the exh manifold between the ports helps

Thanks Guys for your kind sharing.
Im on -10 retard and the pops & bangs is crazy awesome when lift off or partial throttle...

Hi Todd, thanks for sharing yr experience and say if the exhaust valve seals is toasted what is the sign?

Or do you think its better dont take any risk?

you can get major artillery sounds with air and eliminating the closed loop in the areas you have negative timing/sas running.

Hi 211ratsbud, what do u mean? Im did not activate any LC/ALS as i just retard the ign by -10 and the sound is crazy.

One thing to share is, the fuel consumption has sky rocket but im not sure about the exhaust temp...

Btw what Overruns mean?

sorry for the noob question...

Interesting idle timing. How does it feel when engine is warming up?
