Can anyone identify what country, and spec of this EVO 8 4plug ECU.

Hi everyone. Had to buy a replacement ECM for the 2004 USDM Evo 8, due to blown Fuel Circuit pin 22. My original one was what came in the car from the manufacturer. I verified that ALL U.S. 2004 EVO 8 GSR replacements from factory in US have same part number if you need to replace. The ECU I purchased is a different part number, different specs on the label, and I am assuming different internal memory size. In the picture, my stock one is on the left, and the replacement is on the right. Notice the different specs of both. Yes it is from an EVO 8 4plug, and yes it is currently working. However, I am curious as to what I got. When I recieved the ECM, I read the ROM from it, and NONE of my definitions work. I have the latest definitions to all ECU's in ECUFlash, but this one is unidentifiable. I read it, and saved it, just in case I may need to return the ECM if it did not work due to the spec difference. I was able to load my latest ROM revision to it, and car started. I would just like to know if I have a EURO, AUDM, or JDM ecu in my hands.

I guess it would help if I upload the ROM I pulled from it. Maybe someone can identify the ROM for me, please.

Thank you.

You old one MN191022 is 2004 Evo8 usdm ECU.

Your new one 1860A118 is 2004-2005 Evo8 usdm ECU. You've bought correct replacement ECU just one year newer) You should be able to use it with no problems.

ROM image that you've posted above is 94171715 Tephramod V7 Speed Density ROM. I believe something wrong with your xml definitions. Just copy these two files in your
ecuflash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo folder.

Just an FYI, I have a more complete definition file of that patch(94170715), and that is the ROM I was/AM utilizing. I was able to read it like I said, and I flashed it with my version of that ROM. So interesting find there, that my Tuner Spec definition file did not work. Thank you for the data. I'l double check some things there. Now that I reread your post, my 94170715 is different than the 1715 version. I was under the impression that it would still read the ROM. I will add that, just so I can take a look at the ROM on it to get a little knowledge of the car it came off of. Thanks again.

If I am using the 0715 straight file with no other inherits, thats probably why it wouldn't read the 1715. Makes sense. Thank you.
