Pulled my (speed density) rom from my EVO 8, can't find definition....
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys. New here - pulled my speed density modified rom (2005 EVO 8) since I need to do some adjustments and ECUFlash hasn't got the definition for it. I have tried all the ones I could find like Tephra, etc but not having any luck. I'll attach it here to this post and maybe one of you fine gentleman could let me know what I'm doing wrong?
I need to get it opened up to get the imobilizer settings, etc and make some changes to startup my new engine. Thanks! GD |
You downloaded tephra v7 definition files?
|
Yes - downloaded all 4 of them but pretty sure it's a USDM EVO 8 (2005). It was last tuned in San Diego by "Dr. Boost". I talked to him but he doesn't remember exactly what ROM def he used at the time. He says it's not locked so at least that shouldn't be a problem. I need to retrieve the imobilizer settings from it unless someone knows how I might bypass that if I start over? I have tried flashing the car but it won't start - no spark. Guessing imobilizer in play.

Try downloading the V5 SD roms as well. Might as well have them all anyway. Or you can email the file to someone with the definitions and they'll be able to tell you which one it is.
If your car was running and then stopped it wouldn't be because you pulled the rom. All that's doing is copying the files in the ecu to the laptop. |
Where can I download the V5 files? I found the thread from 2008 but the links are broken.
The car ran fine other than the blown turbo and bottom end bearing failure in progress. Engine was replaced with a 2.0 (was a 2.4 stroker) and the turbo was swapped for a 20G. So now I need to retune it. Pulled the rom off but could not open it (saved it though), and then decided to try the Tephra V7 rom out on it but I don't have the correct imobilizer data to put into the new rom file so.... no spark. The original rom is attached to the first post. Can anyone here decode it for me? I can email it too if that's neccesary. Who do I contact? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to the EVO. Came from Subaru's. Thanks! GD |
its 94171715
i got in fine. your immobilizer is disabled in the file you sent. |
Ah, if you reflashed a new rom without copying over the immobilizer then your diagnosis is correct. I'll see if I can open your rom when I get home and copy your imobilizer into a V7. Which rom ID are you using now?
In the meantime, you can disable the immobilizer in your V7 rom to allow your car to start. |
Ah great! Where can I get the XML definition for 94171715?
Can someone attach it here or email it to me? cropperr(at)gmail(dot)com So it doesn't have a specific speed density ROM? Wonder how that works..... Thanks! GD |

Perfect! Thanks.
Why aren't these listed on the official Tephra download page? That sure would make things easier! From my noob perspective, you need a Tephra definition, you go to the Tephra V7 download page, and it should contain them all no? I got it opened up. Now what changes should I look at making for startup with a 2.0 vs the 2.4 it was tuned for last? GD |
Oh buddy, you're definitely going to want to spend some (a lot) of time reading in the ecuflash sub-forum.
Here's a list of some of the tables that will need attention: Injector scaling Fuel map Timing map SD rpm to VE table Accell enrichment table You probaby be better off starting with a V7 rom for a stock evo, and building it out from that. |
just start it up
watch your wideband and go from there. |
Start it up.
Watch afr Watch fuel trim ltft low and stft 02 feedback. Get injectors scaled and then move on. |
