NP, the installer launches the driver install for you, but you need to let it do the driver install, if it asks whether or not to install a non-windows certified driver, let it install it.

Hm...

The installer didn't launch the driver installation...

I went into the driver folder and ran:

DPInst.exe and it said that the drivers loaded successfully.

I still get the same error.

What gives?

it shouldn't matter if the cable is plugged in or not.. HOWEVER if your not running a current version of Windows XP, Windows 2000, or whatnot you may have trouble..

Windows 98, 98se, and ME won't install the drivers.

I'm running WinXP.

Not sure what you mean by current.

I don't have automatic updates on - so I don't get the software updated automatically.

I don't like reliquishing control of my computer that easily... LOL...

Still getting the same error.

This is really starting to irk me...

You probably need SP2 if you don't have it installed.. I have alot of trouble with drivers on base XP installs that aren't pre-patched with SP1

That's the first thing I checked.

I at least have SP2 on my computer.

Is there some type of feed back that's needed from the cable to load the .dll file?

That doesn't make sense, but I'm reaching for straws here.

I just ordered the cable today - so it hasn't come in yet. I can't verify if the cable is needed (plugged in that is) for it to work.

I have the software on two computers. The one that has never had the cable plugged in after the software was installed gives the that error...the one with the cable does not, even when its unplugged from the computer. Wait until you get your cable.
