just to clear things up if i throw a code from unpluggin the rear o2, will it affect performance? will the ecu use the more conservative fuel and timing map?

You have the "Anti-Fouler" trick, you can use an electronic O2 simulator, You can use the ECU+ which has the simulator built in, or you can run a Cat (though my cat does occasionally throw the CEL light)
I'm sure at some point in the future you will be able to do this with a reflash, but the coding is more complex than just changing a map or table.. Also, every (year) ECU Rom image seems to have slight variations, and the code is definitely in different places on some of the roms.
