I CANNOT get 1.27 to read ANY ecu (screen shots inside)...

I CANNOT get 1.27 to read ANY ecu (screen shots inside)...
Not sure what I need to do so I'm calling on the big boys. I've uninstalled, deleted the folder and restarted the computer and then reinstalled....about 100 times. Nothing has worked. Ever since I installed 1.27, I have had nothing but constant problems with my system (XP pro, A64 3400+, 1 gig ram, etc). It worked perfectly with 1.26 
Anyway, as you can see, my "read box" that pops up after I click the "read ecu" icon displays nothing. Somebody help me out

An interesting sidenote is that even when I uninstall and remove the directory completely and restart, after the next install it doesn't default back to "beginner user" etc like I thought it should. Is there a way to completely purge the system and start from scratch?

Yeah, sweet, I figured it out. The metadata directory was set correctly, but the program for some reason kept grabbing on the Evo specific directory even after a complete uninstall/reinstall and me pointing it the right way earlier. It needs to be set simply to "metadata" with non of the subdirectories set (which I forgot about until now).
