WOT log

Here is a log from a WOT pull in 3rd gear. I have my rev limiter set at 7200 so thats as hi as I went. The log looks kinda funny because I have a PLX R-500 and have to cut and paste the log to the Mitsulogger log. I am worried about the spikes in the EGT. Its not pulling timing in those spots. Should I worry about it or maybe the probe is faulty? The probe is in the number 1 runner.

I know the AFR is rich. The only thing I have done is got the car to idle and drive nicely. The injectors are sized to give me stft +/- 5 ltft low -3 ltft mid -4. I did not change the fuel or timing tables at all from stock.

Also do I need to richen up in the spool up area? When I tuned with the AFC I would tune for a 12.5 at 5psi of boost and then 11.0 from 10 psi up.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Pull the timing down 2* after 7k RPM.

Do not tune AFR's in 3rd gear, do it in 4th.

I'd leave the timing alone. It didnt knock at lower rpm with the same amount of timing and it didnt decrement the octane flag. Hz clip is about 1000rpm higher than normal, the EGT is actually low for most gasoline cars, and 12.5 or so tip in is okay. Mine is about 12.1 or so and it seems to work well for my setup. How does your car actually spool? It would seem maybe a little late?

This is also on 91, correct?

The EGT is in Celsius by the way. I have always read that you should not exceed 950* C.

Full boost at 20.7 psi by my AEM MAP sensor is at 3750rpm.

I am at about 13.4 AFR at 11 psi.

I know the spool is a little late because I have the cam gears set at -2/-2.

I would tune in 4th gear, but I live in San Diego and running at 120+ is not an option around here.

Thanks for the replies.

well if you had a longer log it might be easier to tell if the EGT probe was bad or not, I understand what you mean now about the spikes. It seems that its actually fairly constant at 800+ with the few spikes. 800* C is normal cruising EGT for most turbo cars in my experience and in a hard pull you might see 1650*F (900*C) or so. 950 is definitely the upper limit however. If it was running that hot ALL the time then it I would be concerned but an occasional spike could be something as simple as minor ignition in the intake manifold. As rich as the car is I am sure its not combusting nearly all of the fuel it could a little leaner. 91 cars seem to need rich though so I dont know that I would change it.
