Lightbulb PATCH: CEL Flash on Loaded Knock

Hi All,

Since I am at a stage where I am relatively happy with this mod I thought I would post up what I have done thus far and get an idea of what other ROM ID's people would like patched. I will get around to porting my other mods down the track!

What is it?:
Basically this patch will flash the CEL lamp when a certain knock and load thresholds are met.
ie if you configure your load threshold to 150 and your knock threshold to 4 then the CEL lamp will flash rapidly when these two conditions are met.

How do I get it?:
At this time I am only offering pre-patched ROM's, due to the complex nature of patching ROM's I would prefer people don't try and attempt this on their own, below are links to ROM ID's that have already been patched - if yours isn't there then let me know and I will add to the requested section.

Just download your pre-patched ROM below and copy the addition XML into your definition file. You should then see the new options in ecuflash, they should be fairly obvious but ask away!

PRE-PATCHED ROMS:
88590015 TESTED by pd1
88590013 TESTED by dudical26
96940011 TESTED by Phenix_fyah
94170008 TESTED by fasterthanurwrx
94170014 TESTED by bnice01
96260007 TESTED by ziad
88840016 TESTED by al\lupo
96530006 TESTED by evo828
94170015 TESTED by blackbichGSX

Please report the success (or not -- eeck) so I can change the above status's.

CAVEATS/BUGS:
ENDIAN BS with ECUFLASH:
If you are using 1.31+ ensure the endian in the xml is "big"
If you are still using an older version (ie 1.29, 1.30) ensure the endian in the xml is "little"
If you get weird numbers for the flash time (ie not 3431ms) then you have an endian problem

I have made every effort to try and secure STOCK ROM's, however chances are that some may NOT be stock - if you find this is the case please let me know ASAP

FAQ:
What are all these new configuration knobs in EcuFlash?
Flash CEL on Knock?: This is a global enable/disable flag, set to non-zero to enable the flashing routines.
KnockSum Required for CEL and Min Load for CEL on Knock: This is the minimum KnockSum and minimum Load will trigger the flashing CEL.
CEL on Knock flash time: This is the amount of time the CEL lamp will flash for after going over the above thresholds.

Will this work if my CEL/SES/MIL lamp is already on?
Yes

DISCLAIMER:
If you don't understand ANY of this DON'T FLASH, please ask questions in this thread! Also if you get ANY WEIRD/UNEXPECTED results then flash back to stock! If your car explodes don't blame me

REQUESTS:
96420007 - supplied
93660005 - supplied

Credits:
Everyone who has been involved in the disassembly process for these ECU's, all the little parts coming together!

donations to tephra at globalshare dot net - I'm starting a coilover fund

Cheers
Dave

88590013 (IX type 13) works great. I havent had any issues since I got the knock counter configured. What I found with the intial CEL flash is that it lasts 1:30 in the IX rom or so, OR if you complete a drive cycle, turn off the car and restart.

hey JB how you been ? get a chance to check out those logs and graphs yet ? i broke my crank position sensor apparently so i had to replace that, but the car is running again. I've just got to figure out why i only build 4 psi on my 2 step. I think its the wastegate, but who knows.... I'm interested in setting this up with my car as well, so i guess ill start following this thread.

I had another report of 8 mins - it's a bit annoying, but fixing it adds unnecessary complexity

edit: FIXED THIS in V2 of ROMS....

So, we will have to copy all of our current ROM data in to the supplied .BIN file? I assume simply adding the definition line to the XML will not get this to work.

thats correct on both counts!

These are stock ROMS - hopefully anyways

So you will need to copy your existing maps and settings...

The additional xml is only relevant when opening the patched ROM. It is meaningless to the stock ROM.

Dave,

I tested the 96940011 ROM a while back for you. It has worked flawlessly from day 1.

How about 94170014...:-)

94170008 is close and I am sure would be very similar. This is the most common 8 ROM out there.

Is it possible to flash the CEL when a certain RPM threshold is met as well, for example, a shift light?

This is awesome.
I always wanted a knock light from the CEL like Utec.
Great work!

What is the difference between the "Flash CEL on Knock?" line and the "KnockSum Required for CEL" line.
