a couple of logs, 1-2 counts of knock, advice please

hey guys below are some 3rd gear wot logs from 2k-over7k i did today, i haven't self tuned this as yet as i do not have a wideband (yet) however i do logging every now and again, especially when the seasons change.

as you can see from logs, im getting 1-2 counts of knock, especially when boost is coming in, someone once told me that when boost is coming in hard, i should expect a count or 2 of knock, apparantly its when you know your cars tune is optimised?

i would really appriciate any advice as to what people think,. i know its hard without afr's, if needed i can post up dyno sheet with afr's from few months back

the spec of the car is evo 8 with 10.5 hotside, MR cams, ebay fmic, 3" tbe inc test pipe, fuel pump, reflash

many thanks in advance

thats a lot of load on an eight. injectors are pretty high. an old afr chart isn't much good anyway.

MR cams= meagan?

guess I would like to know how many times in succession you push hard. iow you drive in high boost for long periods or just get on it once in a while. if you drive on a road track you might need to do something but what you have looks pretty good for standard driving.

hey, by MR cams i mean cams from an 8 MR, as i only had the milder 8 cams. so just a slight upgrade, i suppose you could call em stock cams. applogies, i drive the car usually just weekends on some nice twisty roads, so yeh when the cars driven it is driven hard.

its running on 93 octane pump gas and around 24psi peak, tapers to around 22ish

yes sorry, forgot to add im from the UK, our MR 8s over here have higher spec cams, quite a few use them on non MR 8s and older model evo's as an upgrade, without replacing, springs or retainers.

As i say its a fairly mild upgrade, not going to compare to like hks 272's or anything

Thats a 5 speed at about 24psi, right? Getting knock near spool, don't let it get worst, hook up an LC1 and use logworks, probably too rich.

so, if it is too rich during spool up, then easy to get knock?

i have the similar problem. usually get 2-4 counts of knock during spool up and peak torque(from 2500-3800, 4000 rpm) and no knock after that.

yes thats right, 24 psi on a 5 spd.

i was looking at ordering the innovate lc1, however iv been told this is for a permanant install only? i want something so i can easily hook it up to the exhaust with a clamp and away i go, then take off easily for when not tuning or logging

also if it works plug and play with evoscan that would be perfect, really got my eyes on the db gauge and lc1 but again not sure if this is what i need?

JDM and EDM model MR's have cams with different lobecenters than the standard 8. Instead of being 109/110 they are 112/113, though everything else (duration, lift, etc.) is the same. Altering the lobecenters is the equivalent of adding cam gears so the change makes more sense for those that arent cam engineers
