Setting Up Larger Injectors

Hi all,

With reference to this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ng-help-2.html

I am still having problems with my injectors.

I have the scaling/latencies sorted.

My hot/cold start is fine.

It's when the temp is somewhere in the middle the 'fun' begins

I've scaled down the 'cranking primer first pulse' & the 'post primer enrichment' which seemed to help a little bit.

Having just read the thread in 'alternative fuels' regarding the idle stepper look up table, I've made the relevant changes, but I'm nowhere near home to test at the moment.

This got me reading A LOT of threads to do with the scaling of various tables when fitting larger injectors, such as the accel enrichment tables etc.

I was simply wondering which (if any) should be scaled to suit larger injectors. i.e. are the numbers in the aforementioned tables just 'numbers' relating to 'injector open time' and not referencing the actual injector scaling being used?

Any ideas more than welcome, this warm-cranking is annoying

Cheers.

I am guessing he is talking about the need to give it slight throttle in order to start. I know a lot of the "large injector" folks have an issue with hard starting when leaving the car sit about and hour or so.

It just cranks for several revolutions, then catches.
Previously, it fired straight away.

Slight throttle sometimes helps, but the difference is cranking time is neglible.

Correct about the time though, it's roughly anything over about 1 hour till stone cold

Well, changing the values in the idle stepper table (see alt fuels thread) caused a few wierd and wonderful things.....

Revving itself to 2.5k on start, strange hesitation on light throttle cruising etc...

So that's changed back to normal.

Can someone please answer my original question re: the other fuel tables?

Pleeease

I'm really starting to hate my car

Besides the revving to 2.5k, did it help with warm start at all? Or not really?
Those values in the table in that thread are just a guide, you have to fine tune the values for your set-up.

I don't know tbh, it was kinda cold when i tried it first, but there were some light throttle cruising issues where it would seem a tad jerky.

When i changed the values back to stock the jerkyness went. I'm not entirely sure what i need to be fine tuning as my axis labels are slightly different but all the figures within are the same(ish).

I presume that the high revving mean that i need to knock the values down a touch?

And the jerkyness? Anyone else experienced that?

Many thanks for the replies

Yeah, if it shoots up to 2.5k, you need to reduce the values. It's tough to say why you're having jerkiness though... I do not think IC steps can cause that..
I'd suggest adjusting the ICSV table again, maybe use lower values, disconnect the battery and then when you restart the car, it may need some time to relearn the idle. So let it idle for a bit, drive around and try the warm start again. I think it's worth a try.

Also if you have a temp axis of -32 to +41 , give this a try — copy/paste an axis that says -32 to +82 (some other tables' axis will change to it as well, but it's ok) and see if the start-up high RPM goes away.

I'll reflash in a while after I've reduced the values, It's a little late now to try, but I'll be out first thing in the morning

My stock table looks like this:

Would you still advise the above? It seems like a big change...

EDIT: I know it says throttle position but surely that's a xml label mismatch or something?

If you log ICS steps while driving they do seem to be directly related to throttle position. When you press on the throttle the steps increase instantly and when you let off they go down instantly.
