unknown rom image - jdm evo 9 mr rs

hey guys.

ran into a small problem when trying to tune a JDM Evo 9 MR RS

after extracting the rom, ECUflash told me 'Unknown Rom Image'..

how can i solve this problem?

i have saved out the .hex file but not able to upload it here..

let me know your email if you want to take a look at it, thanks!

hi.. thanks for the quick reply..

sorry but im new to tuning mitsubishis.. the subarus are more straight forward, extract the rom and done!

so i should look at the hex file to find the rom ID..

after i find the rom ID i should find the XML file of the rom ID and paste that into the ecuflash folder..

does that sound right or am i totally off?

or is it like what jcsbanks say and i should just flash in the 8857008 rom file?

hope to get your replies soon, thanks!

No don't flash the 88570008 ROM file, tell it to use 88570008.xml to show you the maps in your ROM file that you've read from the ECU.

Or choose last option in the dialog box and it will tell you the ROMID...

@mrfred: Maybe you could ask Colby to add a label into this dialog that people at least know their ROM ID.

i inherited the 88570008 file and got to this screen. does this mean my ROM ID is 80930002?

what i did next was click next until i got to the end and came back to the ECUflash main window..

i still don't see any tables for me to edit? how should i proceed next from here? thanks..

There you go, your rom ID is 80930002. There is an xml for 80920002 which should have come by default with ecuflash, so it might be a good idea to inherit that to start with.

i just looked in my openecu/ecuflash/rommetadata/evo folder and there is no 80930002 XML file..

do i need to download this somewhere or something?

and i still don't understand why it doesn't give me any tables to edit after im done..
