Converted from 96260009 to 96530706 - running lean
Hey guys,
I've got a JDM Evo8MR, previously running 96260009 with Tepra mod V5, which i got to run on 96530706 (seeing as this should be the Evo8 universal rom).
I have followed these instructions posted by simple_lancer -
- In Periphery bits F9A there's a mystery bit that you have to change or else the car won't start. My tuning laptop is broken at the moment so I can't look at the exact bit
Compare the periphery bits F9A between 96260009 and 96530706 and make sure the bit that is enabled in 96260009 gets copied across to 96530706
- Leave the Rear O2 periphery bit on, then you'll need to apply the rear o2 heater disable patch, and then you have to turn the rear o2 simulator on under tephramod options. Yes I know the JDM doesn't have a rear o2, but the rom goes spastic if you turn it off (fuel trims don't change)
- You have to turn FCA bit 15 off or the car will throw a CEL about there not being an EGR valve (JDM cars dont have one)
- You may have issues with the immobiliser codes, again I would need to look in my laptop I did have mine working with some tweaking.
- You will probably get mad throttle hang, theres a thread about fixing it
- You will probably need to adjust your low long term fuel trims, mine went really negative, so I had to rescale my MAF in the low Hz range (around 19-75Hz). You could also slightly reduce your latency, as the JDM cars run a higher value
- You will probably need to adjust your decel fuel cut delay tables, or you will go really rich when you liftoff the throttle
- Your cold start will not be as smooth as before, but reasonable
I have not rescaled the MAF, LTFT low varied within -5% to +5%. I left all the tables the same (except timing afr and boost) as they came on the 96530706 rom, because when i changed the values the car did not start. With all values the same as it came in the 96530706 rom (except timing afr and boost and injector scaling was changed to 542 as JDMS have larger injectors) and only the changes listed above along with disabling the immobilizer code, the car started and idled ok.
When i took the car out for a drive, drivability was smooth, however on acceleration the car ran lean...(the timing, fuel and boost tables from 96260009 were copied over to 96530706)....before with a value of 11.1 in the fuel table the car ran around 11.6AFR measured by the wideband, now with a value of 11.1 in the fuel table the car runs 12.6AFR....what can be causing that????

hmmm...just did some checking...since the injector size had to be increased from 513 to 542...then i should have also copied over the latency compensation as well....
i have read that more latency = richer afrs.....
* wondering how much this will affect WOT......

Lean spool is off....
When i tried to copy over all the tables the car did not start....
I then proceded to copy over only ignition, afr and wastegate duty cycle settings..along wih changing the injector scaling to 542 (which is what JDM use).....
I left injector latency the same as it was in 96530706....now i am thinking the latency is the problem because they are lower than in the 96260009 rom...
i am wondering how much of a difference this would make at WOT....

I am using v7 and the scalings and latency were the same as in my rom. In my case I am running rich and had to lean the maps. Still retuning but so far I am still 20 awhp down from where I was in my stock rom. I was hoping for a power increase due to the details on the bigger maps but so far that has not happen.

if u wait for a bit i will post up a NEW thread detailing what needs to be copied over to get 9653 working on a jdm8mr
in ur case u need to copy the injector scalings as well as the injector size. also there is a 2nd table related to imobilizer that has a value that needs to be changed otherwise i suspect it will not work.
