current 1000cc injector of choice???

Due to finally getting a dependable source of e85 in my area I'm making the switch over.

The car is a 4 season NE daily driver and I'm looking at using my JOT harness /switch to change between 93 and e85 maps. Stockish turbo, mild cams full compliment of bolt-ons, V7, 3-port, PSI based boost control...

From what I have read 1000's seem to be about the smallest that will flow enough for e-85 and about the biggest that I can tune properly for 93 on the stock turbo.

Question is which injectors? the currents favorites are:

-RC 1000's... I see a set used in the FS section and both e85 and pump scaling/ latency info on them is availible on the forum, making them an attractive choice, even for an older style.

-ID 1000's new high impedance injectors, no scaling info ( at least e85), but the concensus here seems to be that they offer superior drivability atributes. If these are really that good I will spend the money and time to sort them out.

-FIC bluemax 1250's Smallest of the new "Bluemax" series, still low impedance but are they better in any way? Will I be able to get these to work on my stock turbo 93 set up as well as e85?

Please share opinions... ultimatley I'm most interested in drivability and reliability than huge HP.

Thank you

-

The ID1000's come with a latency chart that is fairly close from what I read and there is a thread that has scaling info for you to start with. That would be my injector of choice as I have run the FIC950s (RC1000) before.

I don't think you should use High impedance injectors with a factory ECU.

I like these injectors as they are made in Japan and not rebuilds or over bored.

Power Enterprise 1000cc Top Feed Injectors: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII & IX #20613
Go to www.extremepsi.com

But your going to need to switch the connectors.

From what I have read, the ECU has the juice to run them if the resistor pack is bypassed (couple threads on this). Thanks for the link

IXNAY on that-ay. There's a whole thread in here on ID1000 warm start issues, with no resolution on it as of yet.

FIC FTW! I have seen FIC withstand e85 better than many other injectors! I've ran them for over 2 yrs on ethanol without problems.

Ya read the whole thing. What I should have said is the 1000's drive great but have hit or miss warm start issues and the 2000's aren't as good in terms of driveability but don't have the warm start issue.

Anyone have experience w/ the bluemax 1250's?

Thanks for the input all!

As for the ID 1000s the warm start issue isn't that big of an issue, it just bugs people....

I prefer the FIC 1050cc or 1150cc injectors. The PTE and AFI "1000cc" injectors don't really flow 1000cc, more like 935cc. The mods that FIC makes to their 1050's and 1150's actually improve the spray pattern, so they have excellent atomization, even on pumpgas. They typically flow 1060cc for the 1050's, and 1170-1180cc for the 1150's.
What fuelpump(s) are you planning on running? Anything more than 850's usually needs dual pumps.

FIC also has a 900cc high impedance injector that is capable of supplying a significant amount of power on gasoline at a standard fuel pressure and even more when the base is cranked up. They are not the same as the ID1000, but they flow very similarly.

I have not yet noticed any issues with warm start problems with them. One of the cars is on E85 and the other is gasoline but we just got it back together and are breaking it in. I will see what happens as I spend some more time with that one.

Jeff- doing the math it seems 1000s and a single modded 255 generally run out at the same time based on the math.

1000cc/m x4 = 4L/m x 60= 240lph.

Def. not a huge issue I would consider giving the injectors up for or not even running them at all - its just get annoying, im sure it will get figured out...

I had warm start issues on FIC 1050's and my friend dan (0xDEAD) had warm start issues with FIC 1150's - he currently has one of the good starting ID1000 cars w/ stock ecu.

I also ran PTE 880's for a couple months - never had an issue....
