Mike, is this a ROM from your car's old OEM ECU? Was it ever tuned by someone else? There's a few "tuners" who think obscuring the ROM ID is good copy protection for their work; you probably just need to change it to the correct value. (Shoot me an email, I can probably fix it up for you if you want.)

Hi guys I have a similar problem with a evo 9 map file it's not mine but i'd like to open it....It's a tuned file to use with 98 ron gasoline...
I'have two files from this same car, one quite stock that I opened with no problem and this one that I can't...
If someone can help me I'll be very grateful

Click through the appropriate menus and the rom should come up as undefined. If you can't find information about the romid on here or the ECU tuning wiki then attempt to change it to the common evo IX map ID.
If you do the latter, I recommend copying pertinent information to your tune, and not flashing the whole ROM that you pulled.

The ROM ID for what you posted is 98640014; according to what we have on the wiki, it's for a 2002 JDM Evo VII (not VIII).
You'll need an XML that describes that ROM; take a look at this thread on Geekmapped for that.
Good luck!
