dead front o2 sensor

I have a dead front o2 sensor, I know all the scaling and deadtime/latencies are good, so would you recommend bypassing the front o2 and running car in open loop 24/7 or replacing the front o2? this questions for the ecu guru's.

MrFred, Tephra, Roadspike, Fast_freddie, etc......

Thanks

www.oxygensensors.com get the OEM replacement sensor not the universal. In my opinion, if this is your daily driver or even just a frequently street driven car and not an all out race car, it is worth it to have the front o2 working or at least have a Narrow band simulator input from a good quality wideband. Just my .02

yep it is a daily driver. I suspect its why the car has some minor bogging now from stop and go down low then? I will just get a new one. Thanks for the link

edit: ordered new sensor from oxygensensors.com.. thanks again Josh

I thought there was a way to have your Wide band work for the car. I can't, for the life of me, remember how it was done.

I would just get a new Walker P-N-P sensor and be done, if you run full time open loop then you have to retune everything... also I think I have a used one laying around in the garage as well... But crap, you can't beat the price at oxygen sensors dot com...

another option - i have posted this a few times for a replacement O2 sensor...

- The OEM sensor is a Denso - I found the part number 234-4741 for the front O2 replacement on there website.

U can get it anywhere from like 60-100.00 online FYI - its all plug/play.

I don't think I'd recommend trying to bypass the front o2 sensor for a DD car but you could if you wanted. There are some various periphery and tables to modify in order to run full time open loop.

Thanks guys, I went ahead and just ordered one through oxygensensors.com - If I would have known you had a spare Fast_Freddie I would have bought it!

You definitely want to replace it or your mix won't be right

No sweat, they are dirt cheap anyway from there and they seem like a quality piece. That is what I am running on the car right now

Mine makes my car have an occasional spudder from stop and go which is very annoying and dangerous. On a hill if you take off normal and all the sudden it starts to cut fuel / spudder you have to give it more gas then normal then all the sudden the spudder goes away and you find your rpm's at 5500rpm and if you dont ride the clutch and accidently let it up to fast all 4 spin and car will get sideways taking a turn.. not something you want with a 2.3 and fast responding turbo.

your fuel trims will both be pegged to -12, or maybe your on aem ems? having no front o2 will mangle the fuel trims + kill your mpg big time.

not arguing whatsoever. but I don't see this bucking/bogging. I was tuned on no u2 sensors though. you are right about the fuel trims. but I am getting 25+mpg on e85. of course if I wasn't broke I'd buy another front o2 lol. just stating my experience with the issue.
