JDM E7 99860002 to 90550001 v5.10
Hi,
I've flashed my JDM E7 with the EDM RA90550001 Tephra, after installing a 3"ehxaust.
I've enable the O2 simulator (yes, my E7 had the O2 sensor after the cat) and Vallet Mode etc, and all is working fine.
My original ROM is EVO7, JDM, Manual, 2001, 99860002, evo7base.
ECUPeriphery tables were added to the evo7base.xlm file to correct the P0400 EGR Flow fault code.
All is good, engime running good.
...except one funny thing...
the cooling fan stars to work as soon as the car stars to move
and as i slow down to headlights or crossroad etc, it stops...
is it because the RA ROM is EDM?
are they not 100% compatible?
need some help,
Hugo.

Hey mate,
I have a similar issue on my 7, this is my second 7 and they both had this issue actually.
Mines slightly different in that the rad. fan just kicks in randomly cutting in and out whenever it feels like.
Car can be cold and after like 15sec of starting the fan will start, then stop 10sec later etc.
When i shut the car down it runs full boar after removing the key for 3sec before stopping every time.
There was a Mitsubishi recall in Japan for the fan control module, as its a known issue to go bad, i'm yet to get around to it, but i'll investigate the controller for the 8/9 models, as they don't have this problem, and i'm assuming you can just swap it over.

thanks for the reply Benja
the fan issue only started after the Ralliart ROM was flashed, with the original ROM i never had that issue.
take a look at the "Thermo Fan Dutty" tables, left is "moving", right is "stoped".
is yours like this?

progress!!
i can now see the "Thermo Fan Dutty" tables in my original ROM 99860002.
thanks Jan!!
the fan stars to work at 89ēC...
RA ROM they start way earlier...
why is that?
should i leave the tables alone and get the RA radiator thermostat (dont know if there is one....), my logic is that if the RA ROM "starts" the fans to keep the temp down, if i change the tables i will be running the engine hotter than expected for the RA ROM (Ignition and fuel tables etc)...
dont know if im making any sense...
next week im going to stop at this rally shop near me, thay have a lot of group N evos there, and ask them is they use diferent termostats on water/oil radiators...
i'll post up both tables when i get home.

yes there is a RALLIART thermostat, lower opening temp to standard.
The link below shows the unit, you should be able to get it.

i've downloaded the xml file that you posted on benja thread, and will take a long look.
i'll have attached a image of the FanDuty tables.
assuming that the AC is off, and looking at the "moving" table, my reading is:
9986 AC fan starts at 88ēC, 100%, no matter what car speed
Main fan starts at 98ēC, 50%, if car is moving 20-50 Kph
at 101ēC, 70%, no matter what car speed
at 103ēC, 100%
9055 AC fan starts at 70ēC, 100%, no matter what car speed
Main fan starts at 73ēC, 100%, no matter what car speed
is this the correct interpretation?
can someone explain why this huge diference?

ok, so this afternoon i went to the rally shop, but the machanics were all out, so i talked to a junior driver.
he is for the 3rd year in a row national champion in the Open Class.
good talk, but the chief mechanic was not there so some doubt still remains.
i asked him about the diferent temperatures for the cooling fans and he said "maybe" its because the ignition/fuel maps are more agressive that stock and the explosion inside the cylinder is hottest, then the RA ROM is setup to lower the temp down...but he couldnt tell me is they use RA thermostats...
anyway, he said the cooling fans are on most of the time on their cars.
and that is logic cause the engine is most of the time in high loads and not a high speed, so the cooling fans help to lower the temp, but thats a rally car....
so, for the time beeing im going to change the tables to my original ROM values.
and see how the engine behaves...
i'll do that tomorrow and post it here before reflash it.
