Tonba,

Im going to have my Det Cans on me over this weekend, if you wanted to come down to the coast for a drive i can have a listen and let you know if its real or not.

If not this weekend let me know when and i can just grab them from work.

Widge. This weekend isn't good for me. But maybe in the next few weeks. We think we have traced an issue back to faulty knock sensor wiring..

Sounds good. Prolly in the next few weeks we should have a tuning session. :-)

I might play around with my knock sensors some more.

The problem I had on my car is that it was 'knocking', even with no knock sensor in the car. So we are replacing the wiring from the ECU to the sensor as we believe it is brittle and has cracked..

See what happens when we replace it.

ive actually read someone on here that the wiring can cause that type of issue,

I dont have an issue like that because i have turn the settings way up for now so i can drive the car and i dont see any knock

Ok so i have dialled in my run-in tune,

I used Det Cans (the Knock box)

anyway @ 3000rpm in netrual just holding it there i can hear slight detonation, but when i do the WOT run its clean as i cant hear anything unusual.

So what gets me why would the car detonate with no load just hoving around 3000rpm

So what i did was take 10degrees of timing out of the whole map where and the same thing.

So just to confirm all im doing is holding the RPM @ 3000 in neutral and it sounds like i can faintly hear det, but when i load it up and do a WOT run there is no sound of DET

Anyone had any experiance with this? I was maybe thinking with my FIC 1050cc injectors running @ like .5% while im holding it at that RPM one or 2 injectors may not slightly be giving enough fuel, should i worry about it etc?

ok but this is not phantom knock i can hear it with Det Cans, its not hard core knock but i can here it @ 3000rpm just holding it there so the car is under no load at all.

when i do the WOT pull there is no det at all, this is weirding me out ive never experianced this with any other car.....

Its kinda like 1 injector might not be supplying enough fuel with such low duty cycle so its just starting to detonate

I know its not happening under load so it shouldnt cause any dramas but still i would rather dial this out

Timing change doesnt effect this, i have taken 10 degrees out of the map and still the same noise.

Lifters are brand new, i replaced them with the build.

you can clearly hear the difference between normal engine, lifter cam noises as appose to det.

Fuel pressure??

Perhaps fuel pressure is too low?? Or too high?

I think I might get a FPR..

Yeh i thought of that, i installed a FPR last night on my car

I have yet to listen for det again

failing this, im going to force open loop and dump some fuel in it and see if it goes away, if it does then i know its something to do with fueling and i may need to leave it in open loop
