odd VD results/lc1 issue?

this is the first time ive made graphs with my lc-1 logging through the ecu.

it almost seems as if its not reading frequently enough, as i dont get the nice clean run in, i just have one solid reading basically.

anyone seen this before?

i think something weird is going on with my wideband, as my logs are showing an odd amount of 7.35 readings (basically if my foot is off the gas just rolling, and while warming up). my cruising also appears to be insanely rich, swinging from almost the 7.35 mark to mid/high 9's...

well im starting to think that the map is really just THAT rich.

there are cells set in the freakin 7's in my map in the higher rpm range. that graph looks like crap because it looks like theres timing pulled due to knock, which seems to come on like rich mixture knock (3 to 2 to a constant 1 3500-6000rpm, and a little different profile on another log from 3000-5800). i only pulled one log before installing my perrin intake and it had no knock...and i would have thought that my mixture would have leaned out after installing that, and if that did lean it out some then holy crap the car is rich. im just afraid to go in and start pulling fuel without knowing whats up with my wideband...

im very curious as to why at a tps reading of 12% (foot off pedal) the wb is reading 7.35 which im assuming is bottomed out, and the cells on the map set at 14.7

i dunno what the heck is going on.

Although it doesn't seem likely, recalibrating (with sensor removed from exh bung of course) typically fixes 7.35 - 22 afr mayhem.

There may also be a voltage offset between one of the following, ecu, LC1, your ground, and laptop (through OBDII and power inverter, if used). Grounding the blue and white grounds to same place on a weak ground will create an offset alone.

Still doesnt mean your afrs arent off in addition too.

I'll have to look into the grounds considering the gauge wiring fiasco I discovered from before I owned the car.

What are the recommended grounds? How big a change in readings can a ground offset create?

My other concern is why am I getting A bottomed out reading at warmup, as I thought it should be sending 14.7:1? Is that a setting in programmer?

well...the grounds are ****. theres probably no way the ground offset is not a factor here.

the blue wire and the black from the cal switch are on one bolt, and the white on another, which are attached to the under dash "supports". this is done using crimp on eyelets (i suspect both the crimp style crap and fact that that metal isnt a chassis ground may play a large role after reading how sensitive the lc1 is to grounds)

i believe i have read that there is a chassis ground under the center console somewhere, plan will most likely be to solder a single wire to the white and blue wires and run it to that lug, and leave the blach ground for the switch where it is.

hopefully that helps.

I would try recalibrating it first as recommended if you haven't. Where do you have it installed?

The sensor is in the rear o2's spot (rear 02 removed and patched for)

I'll redo the grounds then recalibrate. Crappy part is I have to wait till I can get home to my parents house to recal since my complex has a strict policy against working on cars in the lot

think there would be any merit to getting a new sensor all together?

well i finally got to go to my parents house this weekend and dig out an old windows machine. hooked up with lm programmer and discovered this was all a result of the damn sensor not wanting to remember it was set for gasoline...it had switched to "custom".

we'll see what it does now.

welp. put a new sensor in today, and still have the same issue.

any ideas?
