How does my Log look?
#33
I have Re adjusted my fuel maps and timing maps with the help of a member on here, My AF is solid at 11.5 til 6500.. after that it tapers to 11.1.
Timing is also 2-3* at peak tq.. and slowly rises up to 5-6* til redline.
With this I get about 1-2 counts of knock... Which is better then before... but still i was told that EVO 9 should be about 10* at peak rpm.... Why is my car not taking timing?
Feel free to text me at 707 334 7520 to help guys and i will email you my logs/Rom.
Thank you

what boost are you running or did i miss that somewhere. also what gas station are you getting ur gas from. that can actually make a real difference in how knock prone your car is. if you are running arco or similar ****ty gas the car is gonna be hard to tune and will take much less timing and boost. and you mentioned you have an evo9 what do your mivec maps look like those have a lot to do with it as well

Gas is always from shell/chevron/76 only, actually I have tried a couple mivec maps and all of them did not help much. Boost is 24 peak to a 20psi taper after 5-6000 rpm.
I would take the car to a shop but first im trying to get more people to chime in, because if the shop can figure it out I think I should b able to since I'm mechanically inclined.
I have replaced plugs, checked my balanceshaft and made sure it's not 180*s out, checked and lined up all timing marks on cam gears and crank, made sure it's not phantom knock.
What kind of timing are you guys with stock turbo on 91octane pushing in the upper RPM's.

Do a log of you free revving the car a little bit, see if any knock is present there, there shouldnt be, if there is, you may be getting false knock, I'd make a set of "Det Cans" google them if you dont know what they are. Thats the easiest/safest way to tell if its actually real knock.
Is the knock consistant in every log?

Yes I know that, but the only reason I had timing that low was because one of the local tuners around here had tuned it to that, as soon as I started logging it I reflashed it to where it has more timing which is the reason I'm quEstioning what my problem could be.... Because the car does not knock with low timing but it's unsafe, and the car knocks with even 7-8 degrees up top which is also unsafe

Do you have 93 in your area? Try it and see what happens. I can see something isnt right, your AFRs look fine after you refined them so it could just be a crappy batch of fuel?

I have not touched the Mivec map so it looks like a stock 9, I have also tried the JDM RS map.. that didnt do me any luck either. Exhaust cam is stock and no cam gear .
I do not have 93 octane but i might throw some 100 oct in there to bump the 91 up a lil to see if it makes a difference
