Ecuflash: Tune for desired AFR , updated program included

UPDATE 1.1: Program is improved and I also merged the MapTracer from EAG36 in the file. This will make the tuning much easier.
UPDATE 1.2: Color scaling, and some improvement in performance for slow computers.
UPDATE 1.3: Automatic log importing. Other minor changes.

Here is a little excel file that will help tuning/adjusting fuel maps quicker.
The program use proportional calculation to get the tuned fuel map, so I will be pretty accurate (not perfect). It uses bigmaps from tephra v7.
With a very smooth desired AFR Map, this program in conjunction with your log will greatly smooth fueling in all situations. (Use your own target AFR. based on what is safe and what your car likes to run)

It is important to consider that fueling will vary from other parameters and conditions in the ROM. So please use this in neutral conditions: Coolant at operating temperature, outside temperature not too hot or cold, no additives in fuel, etc. Most importantly, you need to know how to tune an Evo before using that.
  • It's great for open loop cruise tuning.
  • Good for starting a complete map from scratch but you'll end up finishing your map by hand.
  • My advice would be using it as a rough guide and blend the results in your current map.

Download it here
Press on file in upper left corner, choose download.
Fuel Map Tuner V1.3

Here is a beta version that needs to be tested for those who have problem running the first one. I'm working on a better fix for the 64 bit issue.
Fuel Map Tuner V1.3 - Compatibility Improved

Quick example of how it works:

Paste your logged AFR, RPM and Load (1.3: Now automatically pasted):

Use the MapTracer:

Set desired AFR

Paste your ROM that need to be tuned:

Process the Maptracer:

Process the new MAP, and blend it in your Ecuflash map

This program will continue to be improved. It is very useful for me, and I have great fun creating it. I sometimes use it as a AEM EMS map tracer. I'm opened to all comments and ideas, and don't hesitate to give it a try

Yes, more than 15 hours of setting up and programming
I'm finalising another update which will be even better.
Maptracer will get more options , fuel maps will show cruise/spool up/wot/throttle lift areas and it will include a comparator for old and new fuel maps.

That what I have, Windows 7 64bit. What is your problem?

Edit: I have excel 2007, I suppose you have excel 2010 which I haven't tested. I will make sure that it is compatible with all excels version.

I thought of this a year ago. Tried to get a software guy to incorporate it in his tuning program.

you can also do this with excel and pivot tables. Nice to see that you put a GUI in there though!

good work!

what is the formula for your calculated table? delta percentage times the current map? or is it something like delta percentage x 2 divided by three? (∆dx2)/3 - so you wouldnt "overshoot" corrections? I was thinking of doing this for values that go beyond a certain correction factor of like 5% or something

Thanks, that worked really well for my last tuning session. My AFRs are ridiculousely on target !
IMO it's good when you start a fuel map from scratch, or just want to use the maptracer.
It's also good when you have a 15minutes maptrace so you can tune some shift/uphill/spool cells.
Not greatly useful if you have only some little tweaks to do

Im using this method to tune my X via the calibration map, because the AFR map is still tiny on tephra V1. The calibration table is in 10 load increments which makes it... interesting. Sometimes its like im making no progress at all though.

Do you know what the maptracer plots the AFR at? does it turn over at EXACTLY the cell or does it cross over? e.g. if you had 159 load would it incorporate into the 160 cell.

I didn't felt the need to create a correction factor for this. Equation is a direct:
Targetafr x Oldmap / LoggedAFR.
(Works well on my car, see my signature for mods)

I can include a correction factor in the file if you want it.

That's going to be a lot of work Excel has been shipping since the 1980s . Office 2013 is due next year. My suggestion would be to support 2007, 2010 and 2013.
