We have a lot of info about flashing it, rebuilding AT transmission (I recommend you to buy planetary gears using new partnumbers, the largest one is reinforced; I also advise you to weld the pins using a laser welding - it won't save you from theirs bearings failure, but they won't fall out) and other stuff. Some of us knows English, so you can register (google translate will help you) and post your questions. You're welcome!)

Any alternative's beside laser welding? Will TIG welding do the Job?

I assume by "clutch" you mean the torque converter? If yes, there's no need to change it, this thing is very durable and can transfer very large torques.

We use argon arc, it requires a very short heating time to weld pin and casing together, so everything else remains pretty much unheated.
TIG is definitely a no-go, you will damage the bearings.

Hi Lawrence & other fellow Airtreker's

Is anyone else using a 3 port BCS and ECUFlash to control their boost on an Airtrek other than Lawrence?

I've recently installed a Tactrix 3 port along with my existing mods of:-
Evo 9 TD05, STI Pink injectors, Walbro 255 pump, 3" TBE, FMIC, GFB Response DV / Bov, ZTX Wideband and Map sensor and am just starting out with boost tuning.

All is going ok except for some strange behaviour towards the end of my WOT runs in 2nd gear. I have my Wastegate duty cycle curve setup how I want it, I am using Boost control load offset of 100, I have my BDEL settings fairly close to the load's I am hitting and I have modified Evoscan to show boost error.

But every time I do a log my WDGC spikes from 55-57 up to 97.5 then back down to 83 or so. I'm trying to run just over 20psi tapering to around 19 but when this spike occurs the boost momentarily shoots over 21psi nearly at redline and once hit 29psi just for a few millseconds...

Could it just be my Boost Desired Engine load and error correction settings are a little off? I'll upload an example log if that helps.

Cheers,
Russell

You should only use laser welding. Argon or TIG is to definitely damage the bearings.

russellc2, the only way to use 3-port with Airtrek is to flash 80700010 from Evo GTA.
Stock 89970010, 09, 17 firmwares will set WGDC barely at 100% (freeboost) while gear shifts.

I am using the 3 port without too many issues, although when the logging can all be done with Evodroid I will be able to confirm.

I am not sure why the Airtrek ROM would behave any differently with a 3 port than the stock solenoid, it just needs a different WGDC due to it being more efficient.

I have, however, unexpectedly hit fuel cut a couple of times, presumably when the turbo has tried to overboost on WOT but that is why getting the BDEL curve right and not being too aggressive on the WGDC correction table and max WGDC upward correction is important.

The Evodroids are shipping this week so I will soon be able to log, adjust and confirm the above.

Just my thoughts....

Hmmm that's going to be a bit of work to try and get all my current settings across to an Evo 7 GTA ROM - I might just have to live with it for now as the Airtrek XML I'm using and I think Lawrence is too (thanks Greg and Merlin!) is way more defined than any GTA XML that I have seen.
Although I have only seen the EcuFlash one and one from nads1978 on the geek mapped forums.

Greg, how did you get hold of Merlin to look into the Airtrek ROM further and map out / tidy up a lot more settings?

Also you can download there ecuflash with fine 80700010 xml.

This is not true. Mine are ok after argon arc welding. What did I do wrong? :-)

They will not last long after it anyway.

You obviously have no idea about argon arc welding. I will inform you how long they will last if I have the chance

I've now got the files thanks COOLM4N, I've copied over most of the map settings I can think of (Fuel, Timing, Injector sizing and latency settings) did you start with an Airtrek ROM too and just flashed the Evo GTA ROM to your car once you had all of your Airtrek MAP settings copied to the GTA ROM?

Thanks

? why are you trying to use a GTA rom on the Airtrek when the Airtrek rom is now well defined? (after a lot of work).

There seems to be a view that tactirx 3 port won't work with Airtrek ROM. I have it working fine, still need to do some tweaking but it controlling boost well..

I will be sticking with Airtrek ROM, as you say it is reLlywell defined now (a great job BTW)
