Hi all I am a nooby to tuning, I have been reading these forums, Merlin guides and playing with EcuFlash and EvoScan and xml files lots of fun lol.

Ecuflash wont download the ROM from my Evo 7 GTA (auto) so I used evoscan but I can only get the 256 download for evo 7 8 9 when I try the Evo 9 Auto to get 512 it fails.
So I now have a Rom image in Hex but I can't open it in Ecuflash, it will open in a hex editor but I have no idea what I'm looking at.

My question is how can I find out what definition it is so i can hunt down the xml for it, the GTA is usually 80700010? The ECU has been tuned and I know they had trouble with it and had to go back to Ecutek for the files to make it work, is it possible for them to lock it or just make it unreadable in some way.

I could really use some help as I just don't know enough as yet to work this out.

I'll attach the hex in case some one can make sense of it.

Are you sure about this file being a GTA rom? GTA's are usually 512kb in size since it's for both engine & tranny. If this ECU was ecuteked then I suggest you try to open it with ecu-unlocker running in the background.

Thanks for your reply however EvoScan only gives you 2 options to download, 2001-2005 Evo 7 8 and 2005-2007 Evo 9/Eclipse AT.

When I used the evo 7 8 option it only did a 256Kb download and when I tried the 9 AT (which I assume to be the 512Kb download) option it failed during init sequence 2 during download every time.

I know I only have half the ROM but I have no idea how to get the full 512Kb and for now if I can at least view half of it I'll be happy. So for now if I can get the definition number so I can try and find an xml for it I'll be happy.

If any one can tell me how to decode hex I'm willing to give it a go as I have plenty of time for this sort of stuff.
