Recently failed emission and was sent to state inspection.
For the most part i passed everything beside the CAL ID.
i failed because they CAL ID didnt match the one they had in the system.
the car is tuned on 88590715 tephraMOD so i assumed the factory rom id would be 88590015 its not.

Does anyone know what the factory rom id for a 2006 USDM EVO IX RS ?

This is both interesting and disturbing. ROM ID 88590015 is correct for the 2006 USDM Evo 9.
According to my uneducated reading of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 40, Part 86.010-18, (07-01-2010 edition), a CAL ID match is only required for vehicles of model years 2010 and up. I don't know why your inspector did a CAL ID match test on your 2006 Evo XI. Maybe it's time to (a) flash back to stock and remove all those bolt-ons, or (b) dispute the requirement for a CAL ID check with the state inspector per 40 CFR Part 86.

Please report back and let us know where this one goes as it could affect all Evo owners at the bi-annual smog test.

Isn't it possible to change the ROM ID in ecuflash? Can't you just enter "1234567" or whatever you want?

The CAL ID (calibration ID) is not the same as the ROM ID. For the Evo 8/9 ROM the CAL ID is stored starting at hex address F6A in the ROM file. The CAL ID should match the part number on the outside of the ECU case. If this is not true then it is a good indication that you have modified the ECU program.

Almost. If the ROM ID the inspector has in their database for the 2006 USDM Evo IX is 88590015, then the block from F6A-F89 should be set to: 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65 80 41 34 65. The OP used the 88590715 ROM which is already set to this value. That means the inspector has a different ROM and CAL ID in their database for the VIN number of the OPs vehicle. I believe the 2006 USDM Evo IX's used 88590013, 88590014 as well as 88590015. The OP will have to find out the original ROM ID for their VIN, and then patch the "correct" ROM ID (F52) and CAL ID (repeats from F6A-F89) into their 88590715 ROM to pass.

no luck with patching the rom.
the inspector did note "car is on stock rom but CAL ID doesnt not match"
car is back to stock on a unmodified 88590015 rom.
i did some digging, found TSB (tech service bulletin)
Apparently Mitsubishi did have release another rom for 2006 Lancer Evolution 2.0 5SPD & 6SPD.

Hi , I am also having the same issue. Can you explain in simple terms how I can view , check, or change these values on block F6A-F89 ? I want to show my tuner this and have him adjust it for me...
my car is a 2006 USDM evo ix came with a tuned rom 88590015. I flashed a generic 88590015 rom downloaded from the internet, changed the immobilzer code, and it fires and runs, all the OBD monitors runs its course and "READY" . but still failed DATA check..

State referee said the "program, still doesn't match the car"
...

******UPDATE: 2019. I believe I know why I failed. It was because I change some REV limit, and stationary REV limit values. This caused a change in the CVN # or Calibration Verification Number or CHECKSUM number. That the SMOG Referee computer checks to see if it matches. I did a test and any value changed in the ROM anywhere changes this number. This will flag the machine saying it doesn't match the CVN / Checksum # that came from the factory.****

****UPDATE 2019**** Flashed to completely stock ROM 88590015 , added immobilizer code, drove and let the I/M run its course and become ready. Passed state referee"

I did another test: I changed my immobilizer code to a random 4 digit code, and this DID NOT change my CVN number.
This test led me to believe that the CVN number for another 2006 USDM EVO IX , that came factory with 88590015 ROM. May have the same CVN number as I do which is: 78 6B 70 7B
If anyone with EVO 9 USDM 5Speed with factory 88590015 ROM unmodified ROM , can please check and let everyone know if this theory maybe correct?

I viewed my CVN using a cheap OBD II Reader and went under the section "Vehicle Information" there I found VIN / CAL. ID / CVN1.... among other things
