ECU Flash not reading ECU? (Newb question)

Lads...

Just finally got a 1.3u.
Car is a 9MR that I'm way behind schedule on.

Silly questions first.

1. I'm supposed to connect the additional plug to the ACD thingy correct? So I have two connections to the car?

2. When I first tried to read the ROM, it gave me one of the more common errors related to low voltage. I ran the car, and read again. Now though... I'm getting "error sending kernel size".

Anyone have any advice on that? I didn't find anyone that actually solved the issue...

The car has a tune on it, so I'm quite positive that the ECU has connectivity.

Anyway... any help is appreciated.

Todd. Thanks, I ran the unlocker and nothing changed.

I just downloaded a new version of ECU flash (it's like 2 builds newer, same version though) and I'm going to try that.

I've heard some people say that I should try it with the car running? That seems like a bad idea though no?

i was always told don't write to the ecu while the car is on, idk not an expert by any means but does not sound like a good idea, im having the same problem, i read my car and my buddies cars and 3 days ago, yesterday after i finished the patch and map it wouldn't connect, drove the car, let it warm up, charge up, nothing, it randomly connected to mine but not my friends and it wont read mine either now... just frustrated as hell now... all evo 9's same ecu ids. need help bad!!!!

I read my ECU with my car running. It just turns off and starts the read, I think it has something to do with the voltage reading being higher.

As for writing the ECU with the car running? I imagine the same thing would happen but I haven't tried so I don't actually know.
