problem flashing rom on evo 8

Well I'm sure this has been covered but I couldn't find it in the search. I have an evo 8 and I have a mini battery on my car. We went to try and flash my base 93 pump gas ROM onto my car last night and the evoscan kept coming up with an error message. My buddy said the car isn't getting enough CCA to reflash the ecu. So we took his full size battery out of his car and still the same issue. Is there any other thing that could be wrong and or maybe something corrupted in the ROM its self? We tried draining the ecu with the battery unhooked and still nothing. So on Saturday were going to use battery charger and see if that works. Is there any other tricks or ideas why it won't flash to the car?

Are you able to read the current rom through ecuflash?

It's not the battery. CCA (cold cranking amps) is used as a measure to determine the amount of power needed to crank/start a car. EVO scan is used to acquire data. ECU Flash needs to be used to flash the rom.

So what can possibly be wrong? I heard the evo 8 ECU's are very picky.

They are not picky. Use ECUFlash instead of EVOscan. Even though EVOscan can flash, ECUFlash is the main & better flashing program.

So use ecuflash to flash and use evoscan to data log and monitor data.

Correct. Also, if the full size battery isn't great then it could also have flashing issues. I would try the battery charger. After that I would uninstall/re install ecuflash.

Ok thanks. I'm probably going to ditch the mini battery and relocate a normal battery to the trunk
