Finished tuning my car!

I still have to smooth some transitions out for now Im happy with it. Of course when I say happy with it, Im probably going to keep tweaking it here and there. I have spool up AFRs in mid 12s, peak boost AFRs shooting for 11.5 tapering to 11.4, .3, .2 until I hit 10.8 at 7500. After this log I moved my lean spool stop RPM to 7900 to counter the 10.3 shown in the log, which worked well. Peak boost timing is 7*. Load hits 285 and holds 280, tapers to 240 by 7500. I may try to add more timing around 7000 rpm as its only 15 right now at 240 load, and the power tapers off a little so I think I can get more out of it

Basic run down of mods...
Tephra V7 94170715
Injen intake/piping
Upgraded intercooler
10.5/20G Turbo
MBC 25 psi peak, taper to 22-21
Megan tubular manifold
Divided o2 housing open dump
3 in turbo back exhaust, no cat
Denso 720cc injectors at 90% IDC
Coolingmist Water/Meth injection, currently using about 10% Methanol

Just looking to get some opinions on it, the Virtual Dyno in EvoScan showed my highest numbers yet. Car still feels a little underpowered up high, best trap was 107mph running 12.46, 1.72 60ft. But other than that, its pulling great! Most of the time Im showing ZERO knock, the attached log file I had 1 count 3 frames in a row. I seem to have what I call "roll on throttle knock", as in if I punch it, no knock, if I part throttle and slowly roll into WOT, I get a flashing CEL meaning at least 3 counts of knock, but only during spool up. Timing, Lean spool, or AFR, Im not sure yet.

At any rate, attached is my current maps and my last datalog, any opinions either direction are welcome. I tuned my 420A car on Megasquirt back in the day, this is my first venture into tuning turbocharged engines, and Evos at that. Thanks for looking.

I figured it would knock if it was too high though wouldnt it? If the engine itself just doesnt respond with more power after 3-4* at peak torque/boost I can cut it back. I just figured the water/meth would help it to keep from knocking so Id just add a few degrees.

If you move lean spool to after 7k or turn it off all together you won't get that rich drop, IDC bump at 7k.

I'd also take a degree or two out at peak torque.

I actually thought of that right after this log and put the LS out to 7800, and it worked great. Dipped down to 11.0-10.9 instead of 10.3 Thank you though.

I wish I had a dyno to check my torque on while I was making these changes. If you guys think its too much timing though I will back it off. I know 2-3* at peak boost/torque was common, would 5* still be too high? Is 2-3 like the sweet spot and anything after that you arent making more power, just increasing cylinder pressure?

looking over your map I believe your timing is abit high every where, then I noticed your on meth, but still I honestly believe you maybe surprised. The mitsu frame turbo 8s I tune usually enjoy 3 degrees at Peak Tq and about 10-11 up top with a good set of cams. Granted thats on str8 93. I keep AFRs up top around 11.2 - 11.3.

This was an 05 Evo 8 on 93 with S2's on stock turbp however he had a blown turbo and alot of issues couldnt finish this up but on 18 psi it was making 310whp.

Thank you for the advice, I can use all I can get. I was hoping to get more power out of mine up top because I'm only trapping 107 in the quarter, but ET is 12.4. I forgot to add I have cams but......they are Brian Crower 272s. I want either Kelford 272 or GSC S2s, hopefully those help up top. Thanks for the timing map it always helps to compare. Is that block of 40 in cruise for better mileage/drivability?

I took the advice given and dropped the high load areas by 1-2* and smoothed out my AFRs again, and did a Virtual Dyno Run. This was my best yet, Mustang Dyno Correction (0.95) but I still feel like Im not making the power I should be for my mods. Granted, you can only get so much out of a setup before you have to upgrade, but I see people on Stock 8 turbos with similar mods but maybe better cams trapping 112+ and making well into the 300 HP range. Not sure what the bottleneck up top Im experiencing is unless its the cams or that they arent degreed in or something

You are welcome sir, looks better for sure. And honestly sometimes it can be as simple as boost leaks, throttle body leak, intercooler leak, or maybe theres some bottle neck some where. Your injen piping is a bottle neck I can tell you str8 away , that megan tubular manifold may also have a crack in it but cams will wake the car up tremendously! I would invest in a set of cams asap and worry about the manifold and piping later honestly. Brian crower cams are absolute crap. My 05 black evo 8 had a full ets kit with a HTA86. Granted I know alot more about tuning then I did 5 years ago I only made 430whp on 93 with those cams, and I made 415 with stock cams. ANY OTHER CAM is better then brian crower. they are PURE crap. If you put a set of Kelfords or S2's or hell even HKS 272s the car will wake up

I 100% agree. I actually tuned a Evo 9 years ago with stock cams, then we installed BC cams and the car dropped 20whp. Thought maybe they needed to be tuned in a different way, couldn't make any power back. Pulled them out and put Kelfords in and got the 20whp back and made an additional 30whp over stock cams.

Thank you guys very much. Im going to look into cams first, then an intercooler piping kit-possibly a Buschur kit, then after all that start looking for a new Turbo. Cant decide between FP Black or going all out with a 6262 yet. But my plan is to keep tuning it myself until I have all my parts together, and then take it to get tuned by a professional tuner just to make sure we get all the power out of my setup that we safely possibly can.

And those figures on the BC 272s are scary lol. The previous owner put them in, and he said they made a difference, but he said afterwards he saw the AMS cam test and wishes he wouldnt have gotten them. Ive already narrowed my choices down to Kelford 272 or GSC S2, they seem to be very similar and are priced Identical, so it just comes down to when a deal comes up I guess. Thanks again.
