After searching a bit on the web i can't seem to find out if there is a way to cut ignition on the x through open source tuning. I want to enable true 2-step(not launch control) Anyone can share some insight on this?

I was looking into this a while back but came to the conclusion that:

1: Can't be done on the stock ECU
2: Is far more harmful than fuel cut

I could be completely wrong, but thats what research led me to.

IF tephra has launch maps for the X, you can severely retard timing in the areas of the map it hits, and add a bunch of fuel to make it more like real 2 step.


Tephra V2 has NLS (no lift to shift).


If you a true motorsports 2-step or antilag, you'll need an aftermarket ECU. The stock ECU does not have code for ignition cut.

That's what I thought. I guess I'll just try to retard the timing and add fuel and see if this works. If not, standalone time.

Actually I wrote a patch to do just that, created a spark cut 2 step and rev limiter, however I never released it to the public due to the disrespect and discouragement I received. However On my car I built 16psi in .4s and on a SST car we were able to build 8psi on the launch control where stock it would not build any. Here is a video of it in action on my personal car

Dude, I actually saw your videos on youtube when i was looking around. I knew there had to be a way some how, I used to add the coding on s4s. But why would you receive disrespect and discouragement for trying to accomplish it? This is what I need and its bad ***.

It is a very debatable topic on if ignition or fuel cut is better for the motor. All of my friends who build high hp v8 cars only use spark cut, which is why I developed the patch. However everyone on the forums hates the idea of it, so I've never released it. I know the 2 step is not super safe on a stock motor due to the added stress of it on the components, but any spark cut like that isnt the safest

I always had spark cut on the previous car and I never had problems with it. So I'm not sure why people cry about it. If you don't like it don't use it. Simple as that. Other than that, good job on the patch.

I've been running it for over a year now with no issues, but if you ask the fourms my car will nuke itself...

That's awesome. I was completely unaware someone had come up with the code for that. Idk why people wouldn't want to use it. Works way better than fuel cut. And its arguably harder on the turbine wheel. But that's only with true ALS in my opinion where the system bypasses charge air into the exhaust manifold for really big bangs...lol. As long as you're not spiking 30psi on the spark cut, I think it's fine.

For those interested, we're doing some testing on other cars, so this patch might be released!

Bit of an update, tested this on a MR with a upgraded turbo, we were able to build 3-4 psi on the launch control with no changed to timing or mivec, and he was able to pick up .3s on his 60ft, again with no changes except for this 2 step, so there is progress!
