Yeah, I don't need your help dude. I built and wired this car and it runs perfectly aside from this small issue. I'm also the one who wrote all the swap wiring threads for the Mirage/Evo IV-VI on Mirageforums.net and made the videos to help walk people through the process of awd converting 5th gen Mirages when nobody else was willing to because of the amount of effort it takes. I'm not new to this game and I've exhausted all the "normal" things you would check for something like this. I'm looking for people who have had similar issues to see if there is a specific sensor or issue to look out for since this seems to be a rare/odd occurrence and hopefully this thread will help others in the future who run into the same or a similar issue once I get it figured out. Clearly you have nothing positive to add; so thanks, but I don't need your input. The kind of attitude you have is what ruins the car hobby for others and there's really no need for it...
In other news, I've been talking to Aaron over at English Racing about the issue. He said normally that sort of issue is related to either crank angle sensor, cam angle sensor, or tps, and that I should check them out in detail. I'll be checking the cam angle sensor and wiring out today. My cam sensor wiring was a little burnt when I first picked up this harness as is normal to see with cam angle sensors on these cars and I spliced a new pigtail on a while back to hopefully minimize the resistance. Gonna double check my crimps (They're usually pretty solid) and test the sensor out and see what I find.

Can you make a video and post it here so that we can have a better idea of how the car is behaving ?
Are you willing to check mechanical stuff if you had to ? If you have checked all the sensors . Cam , crank , O2 then i think your problem is mechanical. Experienced some thing similar ,eventually we had to check the head, found bent valves and other ugly things.

Sir Aaron is an evo dictionary . I have realized now that it might be an electrical issue.
Can you connect a scanner and see what all the sensors are doing ?

Ah, my apologies yes you did first. Well, I had checked them and they do seem to be working since the car starts and drives with no CEL's so I was thinking that none of those would be the issue until I remembered how old the cam sensor was this morning at work. When I built the engine I used a brand new crank angle sensor and trigger wheel and I've made sure they we're tight as well. The TPS is also brand new. It is just slightly off of the 13.333 mark at 13.756 and I'm planning to adjust it as soon as I can get the lower screw out. (Tight fit in the Mirage engine bay!) Hopefully I'll do that this evening. The cam angle sensor though is the one that came with the half cut and may well be original from 1997. I had to buy an Evo 8 reluctor when I switched to the later Evo 7/8 cams as the bolt size is different; but other than that it was the same piece. I also remembered having to cut off the stock pigtail because the wiring was hard and burnt from years of sitting in a hot engine bay and splice on a new one. I'm going to check resistances on that pigtail and see what I find here shortly. The cam sensor could also be a bit burnt so im gonna pull it and inspect it. Yes, he certainly knows his stuff! I Wish I had a proper scan tool. I have an Openport 2.0 cable and Evoscan, but I don't think you can use that to see what the sensors are doing. Maybe one of my local buddies has one. I'll have to check.

I'm not trying to come off as a know-it-all; so I apologize if that's the case, but I've spent 8 years studying these cars and building mine and I know them and their typical issues inside and out. This is just a really weird issue to see, so I thought maybe some of the other members here might have some input. And thank you by the way! You have been very helpful already and I appreciate your not being rude for no reason like our friend Fred here. ("forum bros" amirite lol)

Me and my friend have been involved in a similar project, Evo 4 ecu to evo 7 ecu conversion. Then the whole process of engine build up and tuning.

It's been 2 years . The conversion was successful and I tuned it on fic1450s maf. Still runs like a champ. Sticks with bolt on r35s and yes daily driven.

So, I took the coil packs out today and had a look at their spark. It's a nice strong purple color spark; so I'm thinking the issue must be with fuel. Rail pressure is good and I've checked the injectors with a stethoscope and they're all firing just fine. I'm wondering now if it's the injector latency that's causing the issue. I'll be doing some research on that next. I wouldn't think that the injector size is the issue because if it was I would think the car would run rich and not lean. It was running crazy lean last night. Idle was at 18.0AFR and the car started getting very hot just idling. Again, as soon as I go into boost the AFR's are perfect again. I've got to figure this out. This issue is killing me.

It should be, but I'm not sure what the issue could be. Did you see how the wideband read in the video? Straight up weirdness. I've been searching a ton on this issue though and it sounds like this guy has/had the same issue. (threads from 2014)

Well, now I'm even more confused. Today the car runs rich at idle. Like 11.0-12.0AFR... What in the world... I think I'm more in need of an exorcist than a technician lol. I'm using Tephra v7 94170715. I'm not sure if I should mess with the tables or not now.
I'm about to give up on it tbh. I've never had anyone else work on this car besides me, but I think I'm at my limit. I've contacted F&S Motorsports (Evo specialist shop) to see about having them look at the car sometime next month. If I make any progress on
figuring out what's going on before then I'll post up. I really need a scan tool so I can see what the sensors are doing.

With no data on the table i can pretty much that either your injectors or map sensor might be faulty.
- Did you notice the volts while the car was running rich ?
