Rev Limit Question
So my car is probably in a slightly different state than most of yours when it comes to rev limiter action. This is primarily an Autox car built to STU specs and there are portions of the course at many events where shifting to 3rd is simply slower than riding the limiter. I attended an event a couple days ago where I really rode the limiter and something strange happened.
My limiter is set to 7900 rpm which gets me about 63-64mph in second gear. See attached video 15-21 seconds. I am not sure what happened here as the car stayed at 7200rpm, I was floored, and it just hovered at 58mph.
Later in the video 30-34 seconds, it worked fine, but at the end you can hear the car was about to do the same exact thing and limit me to 58. What the hell did the ecu do here? It seemed to have cut the power early and then limited me to 7200 rpm, my foot was pinned and thottle was cut. Is there a way to eliminate this as my goal here is to have the car hover 62-64 mph, not get limited to 58 in these unique situations.
Same thing in this video: 17-23 seconds
